The Treacle Market may be cancelled, but we are going to be open 11 till 4pm. The Rock Choir were meant to be performing at the Treacle Market, and we are delighted to offer them an alternative venue . So browse books, meet Authors, and listen to some excellent singing. Choir starts at 12.30, for 45 minutes. Refreshments available.

We can’t believe it’s nearly over! What a wonderful month we’ve had at Christ Church Macc, celebrating literature, history, and getting to meet plenty of interesting local people.

Every preloved book you buy and donation you give helps us to maintain the building, and makes putting on free events like this possible 🌟

📚 MACCLESFIELD BOOK FESTIVAL - FINAL WEEKEND! 📚

Join us for the final weekend of our inaugural book festival.

Alongside refreshments, book stalls (preloved and new books from authors in attendance), and a lovely selection of artisan gift stalls, you can expect:

1pm - Paul Magrs, author of Doctor Who books, will be giving a talk “Life on Magrs”

📚 Book Festival Week 3 is nearly underway! 📚

We’ll be opening up at 11am today, with a talk from Sandra Hargreaves on The History of Christ Church at 12pm.

There will be plenty of books, refreshments, and more to enjoy.

Please note: there has been a slight scheduling change on Sunday. Dorothy Bentley Smith will now be delivering her talk at 12:30pm

This Sunday, the very fabulous Chordiality Choir will be performing from 2pm. The equally fabulous local historian Dorothy Bentley-Smith will be giving a talk at 12.30, and last but not least, the Christ Church Organ will be played at 3pm. Wrap up warm, and pop on down.

What a fabulous weekend we have in Macclesfield, after the Lunar parade head down to Christ Church on Bridge Street for the first day of the Macclesfield Book Festival. Peter Branson will be our first live performer at 12 noon.

This year is our 250th Anniversary. We start the year with a Book Festival, taking place each weekend in February, 11am to 4pm. We have visiting book shops, authors, poets, musicians.

We were going to take the rest of the trees down tonight, but due to the weather we are going to postpone.

Christ Church is open 11 to 2pm on 3rd January to take decorations down. Also Tuesday 7th 5.45 to 7pm. Thank you to all the wonderful contributors to the Christmas Tree Festival, and all the visitors. Our next event is our Book Festival, taking place each weekend in February, with visiting book shops, local authors, performances and artisan crafts.
