Seasonal bedding plants add colour throughout the year and our flower shop and gift wrapping service make us a regular port of call for the local community.

Another busy week. The sunny as been shining and we are in full swing getting ready for the spring. Arrived this week- a flower delivery with some very bright gerberas, houseplants, herbs, bulbs, perennials, plant pots and plant supports and a few thousand plugs for us to plant to grow on for our summer bedding. ☀️

Lots going on this week!
Plug plants for growing on for summer, lots of new climbers, rhododendrons and azaleas, roses and still to arrive today herbaceous plants and herbs.
Phew we are going to be busy 🌺

We are loving Fritillaria meleagris commonly known as snake’s head fritillary this month.
A striking early spring flowering bulb, with its nodding head and snake like pattern on its delicate flower. Grows best in semi shade or sun in a moist spot, reaching up to 30cm in height.

Also our primulas and houseplants are still giving us a good show. 🌺

Lots of new houseplants arrived this week, it’s looking nice and full again in our small greenhouse.
Plenty of bulbs arrived too, just waiting to pop open and give us a show of colour.

Snowdrops have arrived! Galanthus nivalis
We will be busy potting up our bare rooted snowdrops over the next couple of days.
Available in pots of 10.

Plant of the month Helleborus.
These beautiful somewhat shy nodding flowers are a reminder of what is to come as we start to already look foward to the longer days and the spring flowers. From deep purples, white, to pale pinks, or charming speckled flowers the Hellebore is one of my favorites. They have glossy attractive foliage and do best in a shady spot, you can also look foward to them coming back year after year. What’s not to like.
Frostkiss ‘Glenda’s gloss’ has particularly beautiful foliage with a soft pink flower.
Whereas strawberry moon has a lovely large rich pink coloured flower.

Also on the nursery this month our seed potatoes have arrived, some including peatland javelin, lady christl, rocket, red duke of York, Charlotte, maris peer, wilja, cara, desiree, king Edward, maris piper, valor and many more.

Dahlia tubers have arrived and garlic and onions sets!
This week we will be looking forward to getting in our seed potatoes, a collection of hellebores, more pansies, vilolas, primulas and other plants for tubs and baskets.

The predicted cold weather has well and truly arrived ⛄️ ❄️ however we still have lots going on!
We will have sledges for the weekend ❄️
Rock salt in now
Lots of kiln dried logs
Bird food🐦

Field grown bear root fruit trees, ornamental trees and hedging has now arrived. Including pear trees, apple trees, cherry trees, cherry blossom trees, native hedging, copper beach hedging, roses and lots more.

Dahlia tubers, begonias and other spring flowering bulbs have just arrived and we are currently unpacking them.
Also looking forward to our seed potatoes arriving next week too.

Now back to clearing the snow ⛄️

A very merry Christmas to all of our customers, we would like to thank you all for your continued support. Not long until Christmas now and we are looking foward to a well earned break. We are open until early afternoon on Christmas Eve and will reopen

Nearly a week until Christmas. We are still busy here waiting for all the Christmas flowers arriving this week and making up all the bouquets and table arrangements. It’s still not too late to place your orders and we will have flowers made up in the shop too. Open until early afternoon Christmas Eve 🎅 🎄

After a very cold start today unloading our frozen wreathes, mistletoe and posy pads they started to thaw out. ❄️
