Please note that the Recreation Ground at the Village Hall is a dog free zone. Dogs are NOT to be walked under any circumstances on the recreation ground. There is signage in place at both entrances to the ground. There is also a Byelaw in place, which will be enforced if continued dog walking takes place.

There are many other areas to walk dogs around Boughton Monchelsea. Please use these instead. Please visit the Parish Councils website for a map and further details of walks.

If you are approached to advise of the no dog policy then please leave the rec ground immediately with your dog, without argument or abuse to our staff or volunteers.

If you have been walking your dog on the rec ground and have not been approached this does not mean that this can continue.

Please help us to keep the recreation ground a clean and safe area for the community to enjoy.

To the users if Boughton Monchelsea Recreation Ground.

It has been bought to the Committess attention that the Recreation Ground is being used to walk a number of dogs on regularly and that several openers are not clearing up after their dogs.

Please note that No Dogs are allowed on the Recreation Ground on or off their leads at any time.
The local community are very lucky to have so many public footpaths available to us within the village.

The committee when carrying out their roles and advising of the No Dog Bylaw to owners certainly do not need to be spoken to aggressively in tone or manner either.

The committee is here to look after the Recreation Ground so that it can be used by the community safely.

Please help support us and do not use the Recreation Ground to walk your dogs.

Many thanks.

Yet more litter has been dumped and/or attempted to be hidden in and around the rec!

The sheer amount of litter that has been left during the lockdown period has been so so disappointing.

Beer Cans, baby wipes, socks 3 pairs!!! Cigarette boxes, fast food, illegal high canisters, energy drinks the list goes on!

The message is simple - BIN YOUR RUBBISH!

Your litter does not makes it’s way to the bin itself, someone who cares takes time out of their day to pick YOUR rubbish up!

Please take pride of our lovely village and our recreation ground!

In light of the thread relating to one of our regular hirers, we as the Committee would like to make the following comments.

Please note that at no point have we asked the hirer to leave the hall or to stop their sessions. We have also not taken on or confirmed any new regular bookings. The set up and pack down time is charged to all of our hirers, and we have to be fair to all of our hirers, we cannot charge one and not the other.

The committee have not been aware of any free set up or pack down time being given, apart from the usual leniency in times when as a regular user you are provided with a key, as long as this does not affect any user from accessing the hall for their booked time.

The committee have only become aware of this free time, due to a booking enquiry made for a different time slot, and having recently taken over bookings (temporarily) as our bookings clerk stepped down. We have apologised for the misunderstanding and have sought to clarify the communications initially provided in relation to the free time, we have also spoken to the member of staff that has left, whom does not recall any mention of free time, as we charge for everyone else. An email was sent to the hirer this morning at 7:32am to notify that the Committee had agreed that the only fair way to proceed was to charge for set up time along with every other hirer. The post on the Community hub page was posted very shortly after. We would not have started charging straight away, and would have looked to have done this from the 1st March, therefore providing some notice period.

We have offered the time needed for set up and have suggested other ways to try to resolve the situation, perhaps set up and pack down taking place within the class time? to avoid any extra charges.
However the hirer has taken the decision to leave the hall and find a venue elsewhere.

The committee are saddened that this decision has taken place, and at no point have we forced this decision. We are fully aware that the classes have been successful, and that members of the Boughton Community attend.

For information purposes the extra charge per session would have been £6 not the £10 or so as previously mentioned for 30 minutes of extra time.
The hall is a charity and relies on the hire of the hall for it to be sustainable.
Our charges for the hire of the hall we feel are fair and inline with other local halls. We charge £12 per hour for our regular hirers.

If anyone would like to pass further comment or have any questions please can they be directed to the Village hall email address -
