Monday morning again! These weeks are zooming by at the moment, starting to think about Christmas but not quite ready to let the wedding season go. Last weeks’ lovely wedding keeping me going!
We know the trend for faux but don’t write off the best flowers for your wedding, they may not be as pricey as you imagine, fresh is so much better for our precious environment as they naturally compost and you really really can’t beat the fragrance and natural beauty of flowers on your wedding tables. We have some lovely simple packages to help with budgeting too.
Books still open for 2025 if you’re thinking about dressing your venue with fresh flowers for your wedding day.

How about this for a novel cake idea?
This amazing bespoke creation was made for a lovely couple who had subtly used a play on names ‘birds and bees’ throughout the wedding. The hexagon represents honey comb and the beautiful cake jars were created as a way to transport the cake all the way from the Channel Islands, to in Kent, such a creative and imaginative idea. The whole wedding was full of beautiful personal touches, and very special to be part of.

Am clearing the final remenants of house and Workshop this week in our big move, so if I’m a bit quiet it’s because there’s literally no time in my days right now, hoping for some peace next week to settle into some kind of routine. Also no Wi-Fi right yet so feel a little disjointed and one of the cats has taken the move badly and crying constantly so also really hoping he will also settle soon 😬
Picture of happy flowers from last weeks beautiful wedding to keep me upbeat and positive 😄 onwards and upwards.

Yes everyone is at it already, so, although it seems early to be talking about it, I am joining the band wagon and letting all know that I will be holding our annual wreath making workshop at Wateringbury on Saturday December 7th to kick off the 🎄season
I hope we will have lots of returners and welcome all newcomers too.
As always it will be in our beautiful spacious village hall, lovely selection of materials all provided, step by step tuition, Christmas nibbles, mulled wine and lots of fun!
Cost is £60 and bookings can be made via email
[email protected] or message me.
Looking forward to rummaging through the Christmas boxes, gathering bits and bobs and seeing what we come up with for Christmas 2024!

Enjoying the autumn sunshine and the glorious light and colours through the window today.
This lovely wedding was from a wedding a few weeks back but I really enjoyed the subtle way the flowers contrasted with the fabrics, in colour and texture. Not always a huge fan of draping fan myself, preferring a natural look but I did think this added a striking clean line as a backdrop for the flowers. A really beautiful simple setting for the ceremony itself.
We have another big weekend on the way, so am having a little peaceful moment to collect myself before flowers all start to come in again tomorrow.

Behind this calm and gentle exterior of wedding pictures there are exciting changes afoot at Flowersmiths HQ. We are having a house and workshop move this month, clearing out, brushing off and changing up. Lots to do still and my new workshop still needs a bit of cosmetic work but it’s great timing as these quieter months are the time to do it. Still in Maidstone area. Admin may be a bit slow this month as we spend a bit of time reorganising the work hub but I am still here and still a busy 🐝 still seeing couples for 2025 and now those looking at 2026!!

I realise that I don’t often put out any of the lovely messages that I receive after a wedding. I appreciate each and every one, they mean such a lot, especially when you’ve worked and worried over a wedding for a long time. Florists worry about absolutely everything, is it what she’s expecting, is that colour exactly right, is she going to love it, have I ordered enough, is it too hot, it is too cold, is it big enough, is it small enough, have I got enough staff, have I got enough time, will this look the way I have planned it. That we care so much can only be a good thing. These little messages of thanks are our validation and if we’ve made you happy then we take comfort that all the worry was worth it!
Will try to share more in future.
This lovely message was from the weekends wedding

When faced with purple bridesmaid dresses that became aubergine but your bride loves purple and lilac, you try to cover all bases and hope by hinting at the aubergine across the bouquets that it all works together. Truly floral art at work. To me at least it looked amazing and pretty perfect for a September wedding and the best bit, all fresh and fragrant.

There are definitely Autumn feels in the air this week. I adore this time of year for flowers, and greenery there’s just so much choice, texture colour, and the warm autumn light picks them all out so beautifully.
I also love that I have finally got a bit more time in the diary for appointments again (well in between moving house next month anyway) my diary is never that empty! Can send slots if you’re thinking you just might need to chat about floral things.

The morning sun was beautiful on yesterday’s flowers.
At our consultations we always ask for any colour inspiration or swatches you may have to get us started and often we are given stationary that has been designed for the wedding to not exact match but to base the flowers around. Yesterdays couple had a good idea of what they liked and had some lovely inspiration pictures, we included the pale blue delphiniums to tie in with the bridesmaids dresses but think the flowers co ordinated really nicely with the invitation and other stationary throughout the day.
Dahlias are still in full swing so you’ll notice they make an appearance in many of our weddings at this time of year.

A reminder of when we last saw blue skies, seems a while ago but yes, this was just last week. This is the moongate decorated with flowers at the lapa, a peaceful, tranquil spot by the side of the lake where I have spent many happy hours setting up flowers. I often think how lucky we are to be able to work in some of these amazing surroundings.
All fresh flowers around set into this arch, creating a breathtaking entrance for our gorgeous bride.

We’re coming towards the end of the busiest week of the year for us and it’s of course been fabulous fun but not without its challenges. Whilst we’ve been lucky enough to have had the most beautiful weddings across this whole week I have also had to fit in some major life events (as we know they don’t wait for weddings) with my daughters A level results (securing a fabulous University place) and a tragic and terribly sad funeral. More than ever I have needed my amazing team to keep everything running seamlessly behind and in front of the scenes and as always they delivered 100%.
I absolutely couldn’t run my wonderful wedding business without the help of my fantastic staff who have gone above and beyond this week to deliver incredible florals to all our couples when I have had to take a little unplanned time out.
This amazing staircase floral was done by the talented Alice who I am so blessed to have had with me as a wonderful freelance florist for many years, and if we are naming names Rebecca, Amy and Pamela this week who are all dedicated, talented florists who deserve praise for their incredible hard work and tenacity this week.
Only another florist can truly appreciate the hours and physical and mental toll on the body and mind at this time of year but if you’re going through it too, we feel you!! Keep going, you’re doing amazing work!
