Good morning, we have set up a new Manchester Box Cup Youtube page. In the New year we will be going live at some Manchester amateur boxing shows as a build up to the first Manchester Box Cup. We will also be interviewing some local boxers who will be appearing at the box cup. If you could please like and subscribe to our page, this will help us get as many eyes as possible to our great sport of amateur boxing and grow it from grass roots.

In 1986 Mike Tyson burst onto the scene as the baddest man on the planet by beating Trevor Berbick and then went on to dominate the heavyweight world scene and have some great wars with Lewis and Holy field, to name but a few. He bowed out of boxing in 2005 against Kevin McBride, I never thought I would see him fight again. Then last night he rolled back the years for about 45 secs to match Jake Paul. My personal thought is let's hope we don't see him back in the ring again. I don't think last night damaged his reputation and I'm glad he walked away uninjuried.
Now Jake Paul as a boxer, I wish he would just disappear, but I have a feeling that isn't going to happen while there's money to be earned. But he certainly knows how to promote a fight and put on a show. The Taylor Vs Serrano fight was one hell of a fight and the show as a whole was a spectacle to watch. So maybe boxing has something to learn from last night's event, to get that many people watching and to get Netflix to sign up for it was certainly a koo.

Update 🚨

As most of you probably know by now my Commonwealth silver title fight has been changed from 30th November at Bolton football stadium to the week before on the 23rd November at the Hideout in Farnworth.

It’s not ideal and all I can do is apologise to those who can no longer make it but unfortunately the matter is out of my hands and it came down to either fight on the 23rd for the title or not at all.

Big thank you to everyone who can still make the fight, opponent and some more exciting news about the fight coming next week. Anybody who has already bought tickets and can no longer attend please contact me asap for a full refund.

For those that still need tickets for the new date please drop me a message asap, tickets are priced at £40 or £70 for ringside. Tickets also available to be collected from St John’s amateur boxing club in Chorlton.

Big fights don't always live up to their billing, but that fight was one of the best I've seen for a while. Scoring is always subjective and in close rounds do you go with the busy/aggressive boxer or look for the cleaner work, I personally had it as a draw and I thought it was a lot closer than the other two judges had it. Look forward to seeing that run back again, two quality boxers at the tip of their division.

Well done to all the regional winners and runners up of the development finals, making grass roots boxing what it is. Onto the pre-quarters next weekend, good luck and leave everything in the ring. Also, a big shout out to all the clubs/coaches giving there time up to create memories that will stay with your boxers forever

So now the dust has settled on a cracking all action fight on Saturday, has UK boxing unveiled not just a world champion, but a real likeable character. Daniel Duboi went into Saturday's title fight as the current IBF Champion, but if you believe the press and the build up, you wouldn't have thought it. We saw signs in the pre fight build up of a Duboi that at first looked a bit quiet, but as we got closer to Saturday he really started to grow in confidence, which his performance showed. Personally, I always thought he would KO AJ, but I didn't think it would be as easy as he showed in a very one sided fight. I don't see the point in a rematch, especially as it was so one sided. Well done Daniel, great performance and live the dream 👊👊

With all the bad press that's been going on over the last few weeks in the women's Olympic boxing, which could have been avoided by the IOC, is this just another nail in the coffin for Olympic amateur boxing?

As reported by The Times , Emil Gurbanaliyev and Sergei Krutasov were both stood down in 2021 but were selected by the Paris Boxing Unit to be involved as technical officials at the Games.
