Finally, we have good news for our adult dancers!!!
We are delighted to announce that Swinton Palais will be reopening for adult dancing on the week commencing 19th July in line with government legislation for stage 4 of the country's unlocking.
Palais Dance Timetable and Prices plus additional info:
Thursday Afternoon Tea Dance
12.00 - 3.00pm Refresher + Tea Dance £4.00 each
Thursday Tea Dancers, please bring your own cup & teaspoon for the tea & coffee service. We have decided that we'd like to reduce the volume of wastage from the disposable cups plus it will also serve as an added covid precaution. Tea & Coffee will be poured out at your tables to avoid the long queue. In order to assist the tea service, you will need to select a card with your chosen drink written on to place next to your cup to indicate whether you want tea or coffee pouring into your cup you can then add your own milk, sugar / sweeteners at your tables.
Note the change of time for the tea dance. We have decided that because many dancers usually leave at around 3pm, we have chosen to start at 12 noon rather than 1pm so that we can finish at 3pm.

Whilst we will not be enforcing strict covid rules as we did last year, there will still be a few safety measures in place such as.....
a) Hand sanitisers will be on every table, including the admission table, as an encouragement to keep your hands sanitised. We would particularly ask dancers who dance with different dance partners to sanitise before & after dancing with a different partner and to check that your partners are happy to dance with you if you are dancing with several others due to social contact reasons.
b) The main toilet doors will remain open to avoid everyone needing to touch the door handle once you have washed your hands.
c) Bottled & canned drinks will be served at the admission table to avoid extra queuing at the bar. Other drinks will be served from the bar.
d) We'd like to request that everyone respects other people's right to their personal space. Whilst social distancing will not be enforced, please be aware that some will still be anxious about being too close to others hence for example, if there is a queue for admission, please don't stand on top of each other. We would prefer you to wear your mask whilst in close proximity to others. If you choose not to wear a mask but notice that people around you are wearing a mask, take that as your cue to keep your social distance.
At the tea dance there are usually quite a number of singles and also some generous couples who share their dances with those who don't have a regular partner. We want to try and make it easy for you to enjoy the tea dance (and any other Palais dance where you'd like to use this system) without feeling anxious about dancing with too many different partners or having to explain yourself to everyone who may ask you to dance and that includes hugging & shaking hands because we are aware that although restrictions have eased, not everyone is ready to let their guard down completely. Therefore, you will be invited to choose a coloured ribbon to wear during the tea dance to indicate to others how relaxed / cautious you are choosing to be.
Red Ribbon indicates that you are only dancing with your own partner or pre-agreed dance partner(s) and you'd like others to respect your social distance. You are more than likely to be wearing your mask.
Amber Ribbon indicates that you are still being cautious. Others can ask you to dance but you may refuse. You are likely to wear your mask if it gets crowded.
Green Ribbon indicates that you are feeling completely free from all the restrictions. You're happy to dance with everyone who asks and you're unlikely to wear a mask ever again!
These ribbons are intended to be returned at the end of the dance so that they can be used again the following week but if you would like to keep yours with your dance shoes to wear the same one each time, please donate 50p per ribbon. Over time, as you start to feel more comfortable (or not), you may want to change the colour of your ribbon. Feel free to swap for a different colour at any time.
We look forward to seeing you all back at the Palais next week.
