Job Title: Creative Youth Worker
Salary: £24,786 - £25,816 FTE
Location: Manchester
Contract Type: Zero Hours, temporary
Contract Length: 8-9 weeks
Hours per week: 30 (potentially more)

Key Responsibilities:
-Lead and support various youth work activities during the Summer HAF provision.
-Organise and lead sports, yoga, dance, boxing, and other movement-based sessions.
-Encourage participation and ensure activities are accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels.
-Confidently lead and support cooking sessions with enthusiasm.
-Teach young people about nutrition and healthy eating habits.
-Ensure all food preparation and cooking activities comply with health and safety standards.
-Plan and deliver creative workshops, encouraging creativity and self-expression among young people.
-Use various mediums such as art, music, and drama to engage participants.
-Check and manage food stock, ensuring proper rotation and storage.
-Prepare lunches, ensuring meals are nutritious and meet dietary requirements.
-Prepare shopping lists and conduct food shopping each week.
Coordinate with suppliers and manage the budget effectively.

About the role:
As a STEP Coordinator, you will be overseeing the day-to-day running and STEP programme development. Alongside the STEP team, an Arts based programme of activities/Sessions which will enable young people to develop their creativity, confidence, self-esteem and interpersonal skills.

You will be working alongside the manager to lead the creative education programme, ensuring safeguarding needs are being met. Creating creative programmes to advance young people's personal development and creative skills are being explored.

GM Violence Reduction Unit, has chosen the Gorse Hill area to introduce a community lead approach to reducing violence in Gorse Hill.

We are inviting you to find out how you can be a part of this project, help build the picture of what are the priorities for the Gorse Hill area when it comes to reducing violence in the area, build a strong community based approach together so we can co-design and deliver positive solutions.

The afternoon will be:
◾ a chance to meet fellow Gorsillians
◾ find out more about the Gorse Hill Community Alliance

Call out for evening and weekend special education needs and disabilities experienced Youth Workers and Creative Facilitators!

We are looking for SEND experienced sessional staff to join our team over a range of projects, including evening or weekend youth groups.

We host sessions for young people with SEND, including Arts and Crafts, Music, Social clubs and Play. We offer a safe and supportive environment for young people to gain social skills, build confidence and most importantly - have fun.

The ideal candidates :

◾ Have experience working with young people with SEND.
◾ Enjoy working with young people and the community.
◾ Be able to adapt and be flexible.
◾ Have a range of creative skills.
◾ Have a current DBS.
◾ Willingness to undergo further training.

Mental monsters are real—it's time to befriend the clay ones! Our 5-7's group explored how sculpting our emotions into clay can help us connect with ourselves in a more empathetic way 💚

The 12-16's had a go at creating their own planet painting last week! Check out some of the amazing otherworldly creations they made 🪐

Here's how we did it so you can try it at home 👨‍🎨

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

🌑 Card/paper
🌑 Spray paints
🌑 A mask & gloves for protection
🌑 a round object (yoghurt pot or bowl)
🌑 old magazines or newspapers (to create texture)

STEP ONE: Choose the colours you would like for your planet and spray lightly and sparingly in a circle in the middle of the page. You can flick the paint on to create more depth too

STEP TWO: Scrunch up some newspaper and dab lightly on the planet to create more texture and to remove some of the overlapping colours

STEP THREE: Place your round object over the planet and spray the rest of the page with dark colours to create the space scene around it (We would recommend using colours like black, blue and purple for this!)

STEP FOUR: Take some light-coloured paints (yellow/white) and spray them onto the fingertips of your gloves and flick the paint onto the page to create the stars. You can also spray lightly and far away to create a speckled effect!
