Introducing...REST SOFT

Kantos will perform the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning piece The Little Match Girl Passion by American composer David Lang.

The piece sets Hans Christian Andersen’s story The Little Match Girl in the format of Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion, interspersing Andersen’s narrative with Lang’s versions of the crowd and character responses from Bach’s Passion.

This performance promises to transcend the human realm and truly lift us out of this world, with performances of Tallis’ Lamentations and Miller’s companion piece, The City, Full of People.

Dance of the Nations

In our first concert of 2025, Manchester Baroque perform a programme of Baroque dance music with live dancing on stage by the Mercurius Dance Company. From the delicacy and refinement of the French style, to the more ornate and extravagant Italian music of Vivaldi, this will be an unforgettable experience - not to be missed!
