Are you able to help support Liston Hall?

Liston Hall is a much-loved community space used by lots of different members of the community.

We have a broad range of Affiliates, Sections, clubs, classes, fayres, parties and more.

If you’re one of these or would just like to support your community venue, we need you!

It’s really easy to support the upkeep of Liston Hall. You could:

1. Join our lottery for a chance to win up to £50 and help to raise funds for the MCA* & Liston Hall. For just £12 for the year your number will be entered in our monthly draw.
The winner will receive half that month’s subscriptions and Liston Hall/ MCA will receive the remainder. With a full list of 100 members, the monthly winner will receive £50!

2. Sign up to – Easyfundraising - it is a free service that allows you to raise money for a Liston Hall / Marlow Community Association by shopping online. When you shop at participating retailers, they donate a portion of your purchase to the cause you choose.

Christmas has definitely arrived at Liston Hall!

The Liston Hall has been beautifully decorated by volunteers of the hall and Marlow Community Association. We now have trees up in the Main Hall, Garden Room and Thames Room - perfect to help get you in the festival mood!

We've also bee busy in the wild garden, aiming to improve the soil and planting over 100 bulbs to add to those we planted last year, which we're happy to say, are already starting to come up! Transition Town Marlow and friends

Looking for a Christmas party space? Or somewhere to hold a regular class?

Liston Hall is a fantastic community hall that offers a range of rooms and facilities to cater to lots of different needs, be it a one off need or regular classes, meet-ups or events.

- Parties - our main hall is big enough for a bouncy castle and still loads of space for the children to run around! It's also great as a wedding venue - have a look at the photos!
Kitchen facilities also available.

- Regular classes - are you looking for a venue to host your fitness craft, baby meet-ups / classes. We have a range of rooms that can fit your needs.

- Community events - do you need a regular location where you can host your event? We have rooms that can access a fully equip kitchen.

Free Wi-Fi in all rooms and a large car park next door, we also have an easy online calendar that lets you know availability

Friday Club Liston Hall for senior citizens - availability

Each Friday, the Friday Club provide a friendly and informal day out in the Garden Room at Liston Hall.

It caters up to 30 senior citizens who live in the in the Marlow area and enjoy company and entertainment as well as a tasty, freshly prepared lunch.

On Friday morning, our guests start to arrive from 10:30am and are greeted with their choice of tea or coffee and plenty of biscuits. A selection of crosswords and word games is on offer for those who enjoy them, but there’s always someone to chat with if puzzles and reading aren’t your thing.

A two-course, sit down lunch is prepared in the kitchen by our lovely volunteer ladies at around 12:15pm, followed by a raffle with the club ending between 1:30pm and 2:00pm. Guests are then free to do their shopping in the town centre – a two-minute walk from Liston Hall.

Guests pay £5.50 for each visit, payable in cash on the day. For an additional 50p, guests can buy a ticket for the raffle. Raffle prizes are provided by the Club, although we always appreciate donations of prizes from guests and others.

Transport is available upon request from the Club’s volunteer drivers.

We close for the Easter and Christmas holidays and have a longer summer break throughout August. The Club also holds an annual summer treat for guests, either an outing or some organised entertainment, and always including afternoon tea.

We are always happy to be contacted by anyone who would like to join the Club as a guest and to welcome new volunteers and drivers.

Wild garden update.

You may of noticed we've been down clearing the wild garden area, taking out some of the bigger weeds which are taking over and also raking up the pines from the big tree. Below are some before and after photos.

The aim is to improve the soil with what we've got - creating a mix that wild flowers / plants will grow in as well as maintaining it as a pretty area to look at - lots more bulbs to go in this autumn.

It's a fine balance with this particular area - on the day we were clearing we had one view that it should look beautiful and tidy, another where it should be as wild as possible. We need to make sure it looks a presentable area as well as encouraging and nurturing the wildlife around.

We will see how we get on this time, it's a challenging area with regards to shade, not much rain or sun! But we will keep trying.

Looking for a venue?

Dare we say it, but Christmas is approaching! Are you looking for a venue for your Christmas party or event? Liston Hall has a variety or rooms and kitchen facilities that cater for all types.

Take a look at one of our recent events, a comedy night charity fundraiser with Laughing Chili Comedy & Events. Taking place in the main hall where a small stage was set up (available with the room), and the kitchen used as a bar, it was a great success!

For the carnival this year we are bringing back the raffle, with some amazing prizes available from our very kind and helpful local community. The tickets are only available online, see the link and QR code in the picture to get your tickets and support our local charities. Marlow Carnival is a free to attend event and all the monies raised goes back into the local community and charities. We look forward to a fun filled day on September 14th.

Did you know about Liston Hall?

Liston Hall is run by the Marlow Community Association to support local clubs, societies, events, classes and social events, be it a children's birthday party or a wedding!

We host a number of events a few of them being:

- Friday 6th Sept - Comedy night with Laughing Chili Comedy & Events a Marlow Rugby Club fundraiser at Liston Hall - come and have a laugh!

- Saturday 7th Sept - Our Antiques Market - come and find a treasure!

- Saturday 14th Sept - Marlow Carnival at Higginson Park - a great family event for everyone

- Saturday 21st Sept - Karaoke Night at Liston Hall - let's hear what a fab voice you have!
