Its quite hard to get your head around that one week someone is performing at the Albert Hall and the following week at the Melbourne Assembly Rooms. The quite brilliant Katie from the D Day Darlings who, following their sell out show with us last weekend are returning on Sunday May 11th 2025 in celebration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Tuesday May 8th 1945).

The wonderful Jim Cregan coming to the Melbourne Assembly Rooms
Jim Who? Rod Stewart knows;
“We’ve created a million memories and even more laughs!” -Rod Stewart from his introduction to Jim’s autobiography … “And On Guitar”

Jim thought it might be a wild idea to start a new band. He wanted to create an intimate evening of stories and songs, taken from a remarkable career as a writer, producer, guitarist and band-leader.

So with old friends, Pat Davey on bass and Sam Tanner on piano, they play music from Jim’s first hit sessions. Starting with Murray Head, through Blossom Toes, Family, Cockney Rebel, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Katie Melua and some of their own hit songs, the evening is both irreverent and captivating. Along the way, they laugh, tell stories and conjure up a certain magic that only comes with age, respect and friendship.

Just a snapshot of our new trio covering songs from my ancient past with some new twists and turns. Plus stories and huge fibs.

We both wanted to thank you for organising the James Taylor evening. We were so impressed with the 6 musicians ability and really enjoyed the evening.
The Beach Boys tribute was a great joy to me too since the last time I saw the real Beach Boys was in 1968 at the Delaware State Fair and this group brought back so many happy memories.
Thank you for all your hard work to bring such fun and interesting entertainment to Melbourne.

There was plenty of 'Satisfaction' at the great sold out evening with the Austrian Stones. Thank you to everyone for coming and all the great words afterwards. "Another great band at MARS". "The Austrian Stones had everyone rocking in the aisles and on the dancefloor. I've not seen people having such fun since before the pandemic". 🥳 "The band was even better than the last time they played at MARS about five years ago. Keep up the excellent work all of you working at MARS 👍"

Mondays market at the Melbourne Assembly Rooms 9am to 2pm will have delicious pulled pork rolls stuffing and apple sauce served with a portion of chips. Prepared and cooked by the award winning Butlers Pantry. Available from 10.30am onwards, market open 9am to 2pm.
