One of the first things to tick off the list when getting married is the venue. It’s something you and your partner get to pick together that reflects your joint taste and personality.

I booked my gorgeous venue 2 years in advance and even then it was one of the only May dates left! Me and Sam love the spring and are terrible in the heat (we just melt) we visited 4 venues and looked online at MANY MANY more. We visited wellington Barn, priston Mill, the white Barn and Kingscote barn. All had many things to love but won us both over with the perfect balance of modern and rustic, plus the glorious surroundings/ accommodation.

When me and Sam walked into kingscote to meet the staff member showing us around our first dance song was playing and it had been styled so beautifully by Lauradanna for a wedding that day. We instantly felt it could be perfect for us both, of course I worried about the choice for a while because I’m a nightmare! However they gave so much support and information that put me at ease as a complete control freak.

I get to see and hear about so many incredible venues when helping brides say yes to the dress. It helps me, Annabel and Tara picture you on your wedding day and understand a little bit about your individuality. It’s been so fun styling brides for my venue in particular just because I really could put myself it their shoes and tell them what great taste they have 😂

Venues can book up soooo far in advance, the sooner you start looking the better! The next thing on that wedding list should be the dress. Unless someone close to a bride has gotten married, often it’s very difficult to know just how long the dress will take! We suggest shopping 12-18 months before your wedding day if you can!

💕WE HAVE HAD THE BEST WEEK💕

A little Sunday round up this week…. We have had so many beautiful new brides in who have said YES to the dress… it was such an honour to be a part of your epic wedding story.. you all looked so incredible.
You all chose such different dresses, each so perfectly and individually you!
We had some of our current brides in to collect THEIR dress, we cannot lie… seeing you in THE DRESS you will be getting married in is such a special moment for us to get to be a part of…!

Today Fern and Annabel were at the wonderful Wellington Barn for their wedding fair. It was so so lush to meet all the brand new brides to be and to talk all things weddings… we can’t wait to see you all very soon.

This week coming and this weekend we do have some availability so if you are getting married this year, we need to see you asap. For 2026 brides remember we say 12-18 months before your wedding and 2027 brides if you are ready to say YES we would love to see you.

I said yes to the dress back in December 2023, 15 months before my wedding.
With the help of my personal fairy godmothers Annabel and Tara🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️
Because I work in the shop my dress journey looked a little different to most!
We try on lots of dresses to put ourselves in our brides shoes and show you the silhouettes on real bodies! So by the time I was engaged I already knew the details I loved… you’d think it would be an easy decision and it could have been if I listened to my body!
As a bride you will have a reaction to a dress and your body language will communicate how you are feeling (much easier to see this as a consultant). I cried in one particular dress every time it went on, still I tortured myself with but is it right???
Of course it was, what normal piece of clothing brings you to tears!!!
My advice, don’t overthink a decision that is made with the heart and not the head. As women many of us can be so cruel to ourselves and make any decisions harder than it needs to be, we will worry about everyone else’s opinion, that part of our body we don’t like and convince ourselves there is a problem that doesn’t exist. Tara, Annabel and the people I chose to show my dress helped me get out of that headspace and that is why I love the way we work at our shop. We will be truthful and help you make your decision protected by our love and support with no pressure!
You would also think how can you choose a dress that far in advance and we get asked this a lot!! The truth is very few of our brides are just following trends. You are looking for something that just feels like you! None of our brides have ever come back and regretted the choice they made as we ensure the dress first and foremost is YOU and this won’t change.
We always say you are never too early to shop but you can be too late to have everything.

Wow how incredible does our beautiful shop look with a dusting of snow, with all the beautiful Christmas lights making it glow like a magical castle in the middle of melksham!!!

What an incredible first week of 2025 it has been. We have LOVED meeting all our brand new Devlin Bridal Couture brides who said YES to their fabulous dress over the past few days, we absolutely cannot wait to see you all again when your dress/ accessories arrive!!

We of course have seen some beautiful brides collecting THEIR dress that they will be wearing to their wedding…. It’s such an emotional moment putting on YOUR dress!!

🕰️WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY DRESS?🕰️

So we know this is a question that has a few different answers….

The ideal answer is 12-18 months before your wedding to make sure you have plenty of time for your dress to be made, arrive in store and have plenty of time for alterations.

But what if you don’t have 12-18 months…? Well we can still definitely help you, we always have over 100 “Take me away today” dresses… just at the end of last year we had a bride who was getting married in December who came in in December!!! So we really can make your dreams come true no matter what.

So why buy 12/18 months before then? By buying 12-18 months before you get the biggest choice available, you wouldn’t need to pay a rush order for a dress to be made super quickly, you get to enjoy a completely stress free experience and we can make sure you can get booked in with one of our seamstresses who is the most local to you.

We hope that little tip has helped you to know when to shop… if you are getting married this year and you have worried you won’t be able to shop with us then drop us a message with the date of your wedding and we can talk through the options with you.

🎉2024🎉… you have been THE ONE for us… this time last year we could have only dreamed of the adventures you would bring, and boy did you bring them. From Rome, to a huge move, to our most successful year ever… we can’t wait to see what 2025 brings… most notably our Fern getting married!!

Our 2024 at work is all done and what an incredible year it has been… This time of year is always so incredibly busy for everyone visiting family, spending quality time together and eating until you feel sick.

We always close for the Christmas period to make sure everyone of us gets a proper rest after an incredibly busy year, this year we have earnt it even more than ever.

We will be re open on 2nd January and you can book any appointments on our website. Messages will be still read over the festive period but may not be replied to straight away.

🎄DOESN’T THE SHOP LOOK WONDERFUL 🎄

What a windy week it has been this week… although the official switch on of the Christmas lights was cancelled in melksham yesterday the lights were still switched on and what an incredible job Melksham Christmas lights have done on our wonderful shop.

As we wind down towards Christmas we understand that this time of year can be tricky financially. If you would like to come in over the next few weeks and say YES to the dress but pay a lower initial deposit please just let us know and we can certainly help with that.

We have had lots of brides still say YES to the dress with us over the last week and we have enjoyed being part of your incredible YES moment.

Of course we have loved seeing our brides collecting THEIR dress as well … you all looked perfect.

We will be closed this Tuesday as we are taking Tara out for her birthday present trip…. Keep your eyes peeled on our stories… it’s going to be magical

💍SHE SAID YES 💍

Well what a wet and windy Saturday it was outside today… I half expected to see the house from the wizard of oz fly past at times 😂😂
It was a different story on the other side of our beautiful doors, we had an absolutely EPIC day… and week. We had brides travel super far and wide to say YES with us and you all looked SO STUNNING 👰‍♀️

We had our beautiful brides in to collect THEIR dress and bridesmaid dresses …. It was so much fun to see you all again in YOUR actual dress.
