I Stand with Our Farmers
I don’t usually use my business platform to share political views, but today I feel I must. As someone who has had the privilege of writing the eulogies of many farmers, I’ve come to deeply respect the dedication they have to their land, their work, and their communities.
Farmers aren’t just workers of the land—they are its stewards. They know more about nature and the environment than any politician ever could. To say they work hard is an understatement; farming is their life. It’s a commitment like no other, not just to providing our food but to protecting the land for future generations.
I’ve seen firsthand how farming families navigate even the most difficult days. When I sit with them to plan a funeral, there’s always someone missing—still out working the farm, because the work doesn’t stop, not even on the day of a funeral. That’s how vital their role is, how deeply intertwined they are with the land they love and care for.
We all rely on farmers for the food on our tables. We cannot depend on imports alone—not with floods, wars, and other global crises interrupting supply chains. Every pound spent on bringing food into the country is a pound lost to our economy. It raises prices, damages our supply chain, and ultimately hurts all of us.
Today, I want to say clearly: I stand with our farmers. I urge the government to reconsider the impact its policies and budget decisions have on these hardworking men and women—and by extension, on all of us.
Supporting farmers isn’t just about helping them; it’s about securing a sustainable, reliable future for everyone. Let’s ensure they have the resources and respect they need to continue their vital work.
