12 weeks ago today we sent out our first Sunday dinners as the knights in whites and today we sent out our last and what a pleasure it has been. There has been tears and there has been laughter but it has all been worth it we have loved every minute of it. We have met so many amazing people through this short amount of time and we will miss you all dearly; thank you all for your continuous support with your kind donations, cards and presents we appreciate them so much. All we ask now is that you all take care and give a big thank you to a few people;Gary Puckrin, Saul Lonsdale, Melanie Puckrin and jack Puckrin but more importantly Toby Marshall and the Marshall Robertson group of the The Prickly Pear Bistro for allowing us to use the kitchen for free and supporting us throughout these times we couldn’t ask for a better boss or better team, thank you also to some very big supporters Morrison’s teeside park, fairshare, Teesside freebies group, Middlesbrough and Teesside philanthropic foundation and MFC foundation without all of you it wouldn’t have been possible thank you all from the bottom of our hearts we will miss you all dearly

Pea and ham soup chicken, slow cooked honey roasted ham
Or pork Sunday lunches with cream cabbage, red cabbage, mixed veg, with a giant yorkie

Chocolate fudge cake or crepes it’s been an absolute pleasure we hope you all enjoy 😊

With everything starting to get back to normal and the Boro 3-0 down at the break, could it be any worse. the knights are hoping to put a smile on everyone’s face with a lovely fish and chips with mushy peas, curry sauce and bread and butter. Enjoy!

It's been 12 week lockdown & our last week so want to go out with a bang!!! Please nominate someone or couple who have not been out, seen family and have isolated all the way & could do with a treat? What a lovely treat for the vulnerable students at river tees multi academy trust, a little taste of the prickly pear bistro, 15 mini parmos, chips salad and garlic mayo with a bag of crisps, a sweet pastry and juice we hope you all enjoyed

We were happy to be able to help the terrific work of the Knights in whites again yesterday.

During the week we made a donation of food and drink, while yesterday it was practical support, helping with food deliveries to our emergency services and vulnerable and shielding households.

Soup "🍐" Sunday
The "knights in whites" are at it again with a 3 course meal for the nhs, ambulance, fire service elderly and vulnerable over 120, 3 course meals going out today,
For starters😋.......
Homemade Soup🍐slow roast tomato soup served with a crispy bun,
Roast chicken dinner and roast pork dinner served with stuffing roast potatoes mash cabbage Swede and mixed veg😍 and a giant yorkie😏.
Followed by a lovely fruit salad and cream for afters and fresh orange and Danish pastry. Enjoy everyone

It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you all the Sunday 21st June will be our last day due to returning to work. We cannot begin to tell you all how much of a pleasure it has been to serve our community through the pandemic and it will certainly be an experience that we will never forget. Thank you all for your continued support through our time at knights in whites, we would like to donate all remaining funds to the Teesside freebies group (with your support) who support the community throughout the entire year. We wish you all good health and happiness and hope to see some of you in the future. We would just like to thank you to Michael Mcloughlin Steven Dawson Jade New Melanie Puckrin Meg Lou Ellis X and the many that have came in through the weekends to deliver and prepare food for our emergency services and vulnerable and shielding households.

It’s heartbreaking to see the homes in southbank and eston effected by the floods we are hoping that we can help; we are sending some food out to them it’s not much but we are hoping it might make a small difference to the ordeal that they are going through at the moment, we wish you all well and good health. A big shoutout to Vicky burns from Morrison’s Teesside park for your extremely generous donation today of cakes, sausage rolls, juice, containers and much more I’m sure our customers will appreciate it very much

Teesside Covid Heroes No 13 - Knights in Whites

They're serving up 120 hot meals a day every weekend - on Saturdays to the vulnerable and then Sunday lunches for frontline workers including paramedics, care home staff and fire service heroes.

The superstar chefs at The Prickly Pear Bistro deserve all the accolades for the way they've leaped to the help of the vulnerable and isolating across Middlesbrough amid the Covid crisis.

The Prickly Pear Bistro only got up and running at the TAD Centre on Ormesby Road last year - so lockdown came as a real blow for the business and its staff.

But Michael McLaughlan and his fellow chefs Megan Ellis and Steven Dawson - nicknamed Knights in Whites - have been cooking on gas in their charity support ever since.

On the first night of lockdown, they sent all their food to A&E staff at James Cook University Hospital.

Since then Jade New, who is involved with the Teesside Freebies page, has been delivering the food cooked by the trio to those who most need it.

Teesside needs people like Knights in Whites. They are truly community heroes.
