An excellent question! I use Philips AS-7000 digital transcription equipment, along with Microsoft Word, and I personally listen to each and every recording, word for word.

👉 With years of transcription experience, I’m highly proficient, typing at over 80 words per minute. When needed, I also use AI-powered transcription as an added tool to enhance my services, providing extra efficiency without compromising accuracy.

👉 By listening to each recording word for word, I’m able to catch any action points mentioned by the interviewer or interviewee during the meeting or interview. I make sure to highlight these for future reference, which is especially useful when the actions are time-sensitive. This attention to detail ensures nothing important is missed, adding real value for my clients.

👉 If I'm unsure about the spelling of certain names or titles, I’ll research the individual using Google to ensure their names are spelled correctly in the transcription. This extra step guarantees accuracy and professionalism in the final document.

👉 Many of my trusted clients rely on me not just for transcription, but as a valuable sounding board. They've asked for my unbiased opinions on the audio I’ve listened to, seeking my perspective as they work through their own next steps. Hi there! I’m Shirley and I’m a virtual assistant, based in Milton Keynes.

I’m sure you’ve seen my posts kicking around on social media but you may have noticed that I don’t share a lot about myself, personally. My imposter syndrome hinders my ability to do that, so I’d like to nip that in the bud right now.

Here are 6 fun facts you may not know about me:

~ I once jumped out of a plane for charity. I found that easier than being on the top of a ferris wheel at the fairground. I have a huge fear of heights and can’t walk over a glass floor. I didn’t feel the fear as much from 17,000 feet.

~ I do all my own DIY. From assembling furniture, putting up shelves, curtain rails or blinds, fixing a tumble dryer by adding a new heat element. I have my own tool kit, drill and find it hugely satisfying. I should use a spirit level more often though.

~I am a sucker for a cold glass of prosecco or a frothy coffee.

~Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been teaching my 3 kids to cook. One is a star baker and aspires to enter Junior Bake Off one day (age 10), one is a culinary masterchef and often makes our evening meals (age 13); and the other is a hungry critic who likes to give a judges verdict (age 10 - twin sister).

~I once arranged a transport reception at the House of Commons and my colleague and I were invited for drinks in the Terrace Cafeteria, members only area overlooking the Thames.

~I used to work in a building with a view into Buckingham Palace back garden. I would often see the Queen’s corgi’s and once saw a helicopter sink into the grass before they installed a cement base.
