The Cake Me Crazy Cafe

Good morning guys… we have a bit of an announcement today. It’s a sad one but one I hope you’ll understand.

I have given so much to the cafe and it’s doing really well but costs are still going up and becoming impossible to keep on top of. I have to keep closing so I can do the catering as it’s where the profit is and I can’t physically keep working the amount of hours I have to to keep the cafe going. Unfortunately due to so many costs increasing I can’t afford anymore staff to run it for me, so after thinking long and hard about it and discussing it with my nearest and dearest, I have decided to close the cafe.

Kids parties and afternoon teas will still be available and will mean you have exclusive use of the space, catering is not stopping, I have many corporate regular customers and will be focussing on those and building up even more.

I am sorry to bring this news but I have to start putting myself and my daughter first and I have to start getting a better work life balance. The last few months have taken a real toll on me physically and mentally and it’s time to start being sensible and looking after myself.

I will bring more of an update in the next few days but I have to stress the catering side will NOT be closing.

Thank you so much for all your support over the last few years when I opened my first cafe 3 years ago - I knew it would be tough but I never imagined I would make so many friends for life along the way ❤️❤️💔💔

Just to add - I should have put this earlier - but I need to give a huge thank you to Gemma, rachael and Ellie for their continued loyal support - they have been amazing and I could t have achieved half of what I have without them ###x

We love working with Mackenzies holiday club they’re so passionate about providing somewhere fun for kids in the holidays and keeping them all fed healthy dinners. The children always seem to be having so much fun when we deliver it really is lovely to see.

Massive apologies - we have had to close the cafe for the day due to issues beyond our control. It's frustrating for us all when this happens and we can only apologise and spend the day whipping up a storm so we have some yummy treats tomorrow!

Our counter was bare when I got in today so I’ve been busy baking up a storm.

Fresh in today we have lemon and blueberry drizzle, old school traybakes, brownies, flapjacks, cookies, rocky road, chocolate fudge, millionaire shortbread and ginger and white chocolate tiffin.

Our afternoon tea set ups are always a big hit with our customers

A funeral is a difficult time for anyone but we are always proud when we get to feed the guests and take away any stress, making it a chance to celebrate the life of their lost one with tea and coffee served in our vintage China and with a staff member to serve and clear away.

I am away this weekend. Our lovely rachael is running the cafe Friday Saturday and Monday in my absence so it will be a slightly later opening time of 9:30 - the emails and Facebook messages will be monitored by my right arm (gemma) and any that are specifically for me will be replied to when I’m back on Tuesday. Have a lovely weekend and make sure you pop in to keep the team company 🥰

Finally catching my breath after a busy February, having a sneaky little day off before going full steam ahead in March. Thought I’d pick the coldest day we’ve had in ages to come to the beach obviously lol.

Thank you so much to all the lovely couples that have booked us from the BIC wedding fayre, lovely to meet so many people excited about their big day.

Great to meet more amazing suppliers as usual and feed them at the end of the weekend with any leftovers. Looking forward to working with some of them on weddings over the next year or 2.

After a jam packed weekend at the Ultimate Wedding Show, showing future brides and grooms how we can make their weddings extra special, we are going to have a well deserved rest. The café will be open slightly different hours today, between 9.30am-2.30pm but will be back to normal for the rest of the week.

Another successful birthday party. This one was after closing so they had the cafe all to themselves to run wild, eat food, dance to music and make some amazing memories.
