Patience, by Gilbert & Sullivan is the story of Bunthorne’s Bride!
The show is a delightful satire on aestheticism and unrequited love. Patience herself is the idealised country girl of romantic fancy. Or so the rival poets vying for her affections believe. She, of course, cares nothing for poetry!
Add in a train of doleful maidens and a troupe of l***y soldiery and you have a very funny and tuneful opera!
