M & J’s beautiful ceremony ✨

This ceremony space at the Charterhouse School cloisters created the perfect backdrop for M&J’s vows. The soaring arches, stonework and ambiance with their musical friends singing in a choir to welcome guests and the couple to the ceremony.

It was extra special as this is where the bride’s parents got married, this was such a lovely ceremony full of personalised touches 🤍

I share tips and advice on a daily basis with my couples, and here are 3 tips that every bride or groom to be should know ✨

1. Save some Cake
After the high of your wedding day it’s a great idea to enjoy your wedding cake together the morning after. Save the smallest tier for just the two of you and relive the best moments of your wedding day.   

2. Remember Gifts for Special People 
Don’t forget to plan gifts or tokens of appreciation for key family members or friends on the day. Bouquets for mothers or special thank-you gifts for your bridal party are a thoughtful touch. These can be planned beforehand or offer your wedding flowers as gifts. 

3. Practice Your First Dance in Your Shoes
To avoid feeling nervous about your first dance, practice it in the shoes you’ll be wearing on your wedding day—especially if they’re heels! This will help you feel more confident and have comfortable shoes you can dance all night long in.

Tips for your wedding morning ✨

On the day of your wedding expect to feel all the emotions—anxious, nervous, excited, energetic—all at once! And guess what? It’s completely natural!

To help you have a relaxing start to your big day, here are my top tips:

- To create a calm space to get ready. Keep your prep room tidy and filled with positive energy. Play your favourite music, light candles or diffuse essential oils to set a calming vibe.

- Have a schedule so you can stay on time. Plan your morning timeline with a little extra buffer time for unexpected moments so you never feel rushed. 

- Keep water and snacks handy to stay energised and avoid any lightheaded moments.

- Choose to have only those who bring positive vibes and will be supportive on your wedding morning. You don’t have to invite everyone into your bridal prep room!

Another year around the sun... Happy Birthday to me! 🎉

For those who are new here, hi! I’m Mel, the owner and lead wedding planner of Your Story Events. 

As I celebrate another year older and another year of being a wedding planner, I can’t help but reflect on what I’ve loved most about this incredible year…

From the lovely couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with to designing beautiful, bespoke weddings, it’s been a year filled with new friendships and creativity. I’ve travelled across the country to stunning venues and private homes and worked with some wonderful new suppliers and the best couples.

It’s not come without hard work and challenging moments too, but all a learning curve and opportunity to grow.
I feel so grateful and it means the world that I get to do a ‘job’ I love creating memories of a lifetime for my wonderful couples🤍

Top tips for making sure your veils stay put all day! 

If you’ve decided to add a veil to complete your bridal look, then you’ll want it to stay in place for as long as possible. Here are my top tips:

- Consider the length and weight of your veil—lighter, shorter veils are easier to keep secure, while longer veils may need extra reinforcement.

- Always use plenty of hairpins to secure your veil comb to your hairstyle. Your hair stylist will be an expert at this! 

- Talk to your hairstylist about choosing the right position for your veil that feels secure and comfortable.

- Pack extra pins and clips in your bridal bag just in case you need a quick touch-up during the day!

Follow these tips, and your veil will stay picture-perfect all day long ✨

One for the grooms!

Have you thought about where you will be getting ready with your groomsmen or wedding party on the big day? 

Most venues will have a bar or large dressing room or suite where you can chill and have a drink before your ceremony starts. 

Top Tip: if you are getting ready in a different venue to your partner, you might need to book 2 photographers if you both want those getting-ready shots!
