Samples!
I think I regularly put out a post, with words to this effect, around this time of year. But whilst wedding enquiries are rolling in, I just wanted to reiterate my process with samples!
Samples are a pure labour of love- in order to do them I have to take time ‘off’ to produce them as they are quite an undertaking. Three days work- baking, cutting, filling, packaging, posting etc! Hundreds of mini pots filled with different flavours and fillings is no joke! And I try and do them ‘en masse’ each time, to fit as many of my couples in as possible- so anything between 30-50 spots each time. But they are worth it, because they help my lovely couples pick flavours for their wedding cakes!
And that’s why I don’t offer them to couples who aren’t booked in with me.
There’s plenty of ways you can try my bakes if you want to- if you’re keen to try a particularly flavour you can order a mini cake, or a batch of cupcakes, or even one of my little luxury cakes. But samples aren’t it- they aren’t a tool to ‘sell’ my business (there isn’t a price you could put on them that would make them profitable enough to just ‘sell’ when you take into account the time it takes to make six individual flavours!), or to convince you I can bake a cake (I wouldn’t still be doing this nearly 7 years down the line if I couldn’t), they are solely for the purpose of helping my couples, pick their wedding cake flavours.
As I only do them on set dates throughout the year it’s also impossible to offer a system where you can order a box, and me guarantee that your wedding date remain open until you receive the samples. There really is no fool proof way of doing it, but as a one-woman-band…this is the only way I’ve used that works for me!
Most of my wedding clients come from recommendations from past couples, or are people who have attended a wedding I’ve made the cake at, or people who have used me for their celebration cakes over the years-

Unfortunately due to baking approx 1 million brownies and blondies I do have some spares!
These are now bagged up in lucky bags- 6 items for £10!!!!
They are a mix of items (not suitable for any allergy sufferers!), they are random and can’t be swapped and changed as they’re bagged up but the hugely reduced price does reflect this!
They can be collected from Mirfield tonight 6.30-8.30, or tomorrow 2pm-6pm.

Such a busy week this last week and next week is EVEN busier. I have four weddings next week and numerous celebration cake orders so I will definitely be a bit awol.
I’m absolutely pooped today so I’m going to take some time out as I need to give my wee noggin’ a bit of a rest before starting to sort orders/logistics for next week!
I will send out messages for next weeks celebration cake orders, tonight, when I’ve got the sprogs to bed.
All wedding booking invoices I will get sent tonight too- I know a few have been waiting so huge apologies!
Then I’ll make a dent on new enquiries!
Thank you everyone for your patience- I am, as always (!!!), finding the juggle of admin and the actual physical work load, difficult to stay on top of as unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day when there really should be double that!!
Just a big thank you to everyone who purchased from me and came and said hello at Mirfield Makers yesterday; so lovely to put faces to names! Some of you said you had actually come down specifically to buy treats which makes you officially MY PEOPLE!! So a huge thank you for another sell out day 🤍 It’s a lovely event and has brought me lots of new customers the past few months, so very grateful!
