Dear Boy.
We didn't know who you'd be
and neither did we care.
We just knew that you were ours,
with a future we could share.

We didn't know that when you cried,
because something wasn't right,
that you weren't being awkward
and you were filled with fright.

We didn't know that as you grew,
that we would also grow,
that you would show us a vision,
that before we did not know.

We didn't know about textured food,
or gave its colours any thought.
We just went around oblivious,
until you came and taught.

We didn't know that you would see
a different piece of bread,
and if it wasn't cut just right
then your day was full of dread.

We didn't know what routine meant,
or the damage if it got broken,
but we learnt to follow it,
through the words unspoken.

We didn't know that some fabrics,
were there to spoil your day,
You didn't know about our tears
when we turned away.

We didn't know, and we still don't,
what the world looks like to you.
But one thing we all agree on is
we will keep learning until we do.

Seated. ❤️ (another older one) My first viral poem inspired from the queen's perspective at her husband's funeral.

Do not look at me with sorrow,
simply because I sit alone.
It is a choice I chose to make
to compose the shivers from my bone.

Do not look at this with pity,
as it was what I chose to do.
It was Philips place to be,
I wanted to show that to all of you.

My world of love is shattered,
and my heart is broke in two,
but as the peoples Queen,
I still have a job to do.

I want to thank you for your kind words
as I laid my husband to rest.
I had 73 wonderful years,
of being married to the best.

So do not look at me with sorrow,
for a choice that I did make.
I chose to sit alone.
for my country's sake.

The seat beside me was my husband's.
It was not an empty space.
His presence sat beside me,
you just couldn't see his face.
