A very 'Happy Special Birthday' to Hayley for today 🎂🍾
The Tuesday evening ballet class had a little celebration for Hayley this week when we were all treated to Julie's magnificent chocolate cake 😊
Hayley started dancing at Brsdance as a toddler in what used to be called 'The Baby Class' with Miss Roberts. Hayley has been loyal to our school over decades and she has always retained her passion for dance and performance.; she is also always very thoughtful in being a super help in many important little practical ways.
Thank you so much to Helen for coming along to join in Hayley's celebration and for taking our group photo too.

The brs team would like to say ‘break a leg’ to all of our dancers who are involved in Aladdin at the Floral Pavillion this weekend.

You have all worked incredibly hard and deserve to show it off on stage whilst having the time of your lives.

Miss Millington will be coming to watch the Thursday evening show and Hannah will be attending the Saturday show. They are excited to see all of you.

Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful teachers, dancers and their families.

We have had an amazing whirlwind of a year at Brs-dance and we have loved every minute.

Just a few of the highlights included:

2024 is going to be just as exciting with our Showcase in March and some surprises up our sleeves as always 😉

Our ‘dancer of the month’ for November goes to Millie!

Millie has been working extremely hard this term. She always listens and tries her best all the time with excellent attention to technique. Millie is always wearing a smile and brightens up our day.

Our dancer of the month for October goes to Lucy 😃

Lucy has been working extremely hard, thinking about and implementing all her corrections in ballet as well as always remembering the dance for our showcase. All of her teachers at brs dance have noticed how hard Lucy has been working this month and all agree that she deserves the title of ‘dancer of the month’.

Well done Lucy ❤️

With our senior Contemporary students, Emma Jackson focused on Martha Graham Technique followed by beautiful choreography from Emma Briggs who taught Emma during her time at KS Dance.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this class and look forward to the next time Emma returns.

Our ‘dancer of the month’ for September goes to Nina. 🥰

All of the teachers at Brs have been really impressed with Nina’s focus and improvement in her attitude within her dance classes. Because of her super new attitude this term, Nina’s technique has developed a lot and she is really working to her full potential. Nina is always smiling and is eager to learn in every class.

Well done Nina, keep up the hard work😃

At the end of last term, during our Prize Giving evening, we said ‘Goodbye’ to Laura. Laura started her dance classes with Brsdance at the age of 4 back in 2004!
Laura leaves having achieved her Grade 6 ‘bbodance’ qualification in Classical Ballet and her Intermediate Tap vocational qualification (which she worked hard to achieve during her A level term).
Laura has always been a natural performer across all dance styles but she especially excelled in musical theatre where she made an important contribution to all our musical theatre show numbers.
Today is Laura’s first day at Edge Hill University where she will be studying towards a BA (Hons) in Media.
Everyone at Brsdance wishes Laura the very best of luck for her time at Edge Hill and for her future life too.

As this is the first week back of our dance school’s new year, I wished to post about Lucy who was our School Cup winner from our Prize Giving at the end of last term. Our school cup trophy is our most special trophy and is awarded to a student who has given a great deal to the school.
Lucy has trained in the school since our pre-syllabus class (now known as our Creative ballet class). She has always been an extremely committed and determined pupil who has shown great loyalty both to the school and all the teachers. Having qualified herself as a teacher at a young age she has become an asset to the school and it is lovely that she will be assisting and teaching more this year under the school’s new directorship of Becky and Hannah.

Our ‘Dancer of the Month’ for July is Poppy. All of the teachers here at brs dance have noticed a positive shift in Poppy's attitude towards dance. She has shown great determination during all classes which has been wonderful to see. Well done Poppy.

What a successful day today was. Thank you to all that came to take a look at our new studios, past present and new faces.

We are overjoyed with the amount of sign ups that occurred and look forward to teaching all of you.

We are getting very excited for our open day this coming Saturday. We deliver classes from ages 3 and up in a variety of genres.

The team will be there to answer any questions you may have and sign ups will be available in the office.

At the end of last term I stepped down from my role as acting principal of Barbara Roberts School of Dance and from next term our dance school will have two new wonderful directors: Rebecca Gardner and Hannah Grice. I am personally very proud to know that Becky and Hannah, with their unquestionable love of dance and dance teaching, both grew up and found their passion through our dance school and I am especially thankful to have the confidence to be able to hand over the reins to them both to share.
I took over the running of the school in 2000, when our founder (and my Mum), Miss Roberts retired after 50 years of running the school. As principal, my aim was always to provide high quality, pupil centred teaching, with ballet at the heart and to instil the values of striving to be one’s best, to enjoy learning and to have respect for others. Going forwards I am looking forwards to continue teaching ballet plus a couple of other classes too and I will now hold the title of Principal Emerita.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my role as principal of our school for over 20 years.

We need parents to LIKE the post please so that the teachers know that this has been read by all exam parents. At the moment there are 17 exam pupils who have not yet done this.
