Ever wondered why I chose to become a floral designer? Here's my story...
I always feel so lucky to grow up with a loving family, surrounded by nature and hardwork. I owe my successes to these ingredients in my life ...
I was often found sketching flowers and sitting admiring the wonders of nature on our family farm in Shropshire in my spare time when I wasn’t helping. My earliest flower memory was sitting picking daisy and making them into chains in the garden, helping in the veggie patch, be giving my own little plot with a packet of gladioli seeds. Creativity was not just fostered; it was a cherished value that allowed us to pursue our passions.
Cultivating Creativity: Where Artistry Blooms on Printed Textiles
Those early lessons in crafting daisies were not just childhood pastimes—they were the seeds of a lifelong passion for art and the endless wonders of the natural world. This love for flowers and foliage flourished as I pursued a degree in Surface Pattern Design at Staffordshire University, specialising in printed textiles. I even sold some of my design sketches to a ceramic company at my final degree show!
From Exploration to Creativity: A Journey Through Professions
After leaving university, I ventured into various roles, exploring a multitude of professions from saving advisor, support art and design graduates and even freelanced as a textile designer for awhile. Eventually, I transitioned into the corporate world, assuming the role of Visual Merchandise Manager. Leading a team of highly creative individuals and being offered a secondment or two. Despite the successes, I began to feel a longing for the hands-on creativity, as my role became increasingly detached from the creative process.
Finding My True Calling: Sensuous florals, breath taking designs for memories to treasure
In 2009, I returned to @reseaseheath to immerse myself in the art of floristry, purely for personal enjoyment. It was a decision I never regretted - I loved it! I fo
Speed Designing: 7 Creations, 90 Minutes, Unlimited Inspiration
Had a blast at last night’s live flower demo with my ceramic pals Ceramic Botanist Kate Smallwood Ceramics at Elworth Flower Club🌸! I took on the challenge of designing with beautiful handmade vessels I’d never touched before and whipped up 7 designs in 90 mins - it was like floral speed dating, and I was there to impress (not that I’ve ever speed dated 😂)! Whilst sharing tips and tricks to wow the crowd!
I showcased the best of British blooms from our wholesaler Evolve Flowers Ltd, featuring breathtaking ‘Columbus’ tulips on the bulb a double flowering tulip - its Rhubarb and custard colour turns to pink and white edge as it matures, grown hydroponically in Norfolk. I wrapped ‘Molto Amata’ tulip bulbs in sustainably harvested Norfolk moss, thanks to a family with over 25 years’ permission to gather this precious resource. To give height and interest to the vase arrangement.
It’s a joy to support our British growers and wholesalers, bringing their exceptional work to the spotlight.
Rachel’s vote of thanks was the cherry on top, calling the event ‘a spring triumph’ – a moment that truly captured the spirit of the season and our passion for floral artistry.
An unforgettable night, thanks to every member and visitor who joined us and those who personally shared their thanks for a fabulous evening 🌿! Can’t wait to see you all again for another round of floral speed dating soon!

"The Tales of Holly Farm" Wreath: The Little Bell This wreath one of the four designs from 'The Tales of Holly Farm' serves as a beautiful reminder of cherished moments,"The Little Bell," a heartfelt tribute to the cherished tradition of bedtime stories within our warm and inviting farmhouse. Jacqui's mum would enchant her and her sisters with tales every night, creating a magical bedtime ritual. And as morning arrived, the melodious songs of the birds would fill the air, signalling the start of a new day filled with new adventures. The wreath is adorned with rich, tradition-rich red and green hues, symbolising the season's festive spirit. A ceramic bird that heralded the morning, is interspersed among the foliage. At the center, a miniature bell charm hangs, a nod to the beloved "Little Bell" Christmas story.
CENTREPIECES lined up, awaiting their journey to De Vere Cranage Estate this afternoon for the Lovett Care LTD awards—a tribute to extraordinary individuals! Wishing everyone the best of luck.
