In another new addition to the squad, we welcome Ross Edwards to the fold. Having joined from Penallta and making his debut at Neath last Saturday, Ross certainly showed us that he is an abrasive, no nonsense and experienced back row forward, Ross will add some guile to our pack that will stand us in good stead over the rest of the season. Fantastic to be able to welcome Garin Price back to the Welfare as he returns on a permanent basis after confirming his transfer from Pontypool this week. Garin appeared in the 🔵&⚫️ during his junior and youth rugby and his inclusion in our matchday squad tomorrow means we start with 8 players that have all come through our age grade system. The players and coaches have been putting in the graft in training and are busting to get back on the Welfare after a month away. Delighted to have The Mighty Party Band here with us for this years after match party following the Wales v England game on Super Saturday. These are among Wales' top entertainers and party bands that regularly feature on the live music scene in Cardiff and at all the major holiday camps so we are really lucky to have secured their services for this years event. We look forward to having them with us and also to have you joining us for a great evening of music to bring to a close this seasons Six Nations!

According to our archive, this Saturday's game against Pontypridd RFC will be the 112th meeting between our 2 clubs!
Newbridge having won 50 games, lost 51 and drawn 10.
Our first meeting came on Saturday 16th February 1946 at Pontypridd.
The programme shown here is our oldest Newbridge v Pontypridd programme that comes from only the 2nd meeting between us (first at the Welfare) in March 1946.

This Saturday sees Pontypridd RFC travel to the Welfare in a league fixture. For the last 🔵&⚫️ victory against the "Valley Commandos" on home soil, we need to travel back 30 years to January 1995 in a game which saw us upset the odds at the time with Ponty lying at 2nd place in the table and Newbridge at 10th (sound familiar?) Afternoon all,
We bring both good and bad news this afternoon. Unfortunately, the cold weather has beaten us again which means that tomorrow's game against Llangennech has now been called off, with the pitch at the Welfare currently rock solid and no vast improvement in the forecast!!
The good news is that we are now able to confirm the date of the Ben Francis Cup semi final against Abergavenny which will take place on Saturday 12th April at their Bailey Park home.
Even better news is that the clubhouse will still be open from 12 midday tomorrow so it would be great to get your support. Other than that, we'll see you next Saturday at the Gnoll where we take on Neath👍🏻

💥What a Christmas Cracker December has been!🎅🏻

We've enjoyed some fantastic days and events at the Club during December this year and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that's come along and supported us. With your help we've had some great fun and really celebrated the festive period in style but in doing so you have also helped us to help others, which is what Christmas is all about.
We began the month by hosting WRU Deaf for the first time and helped them raise £350 which is a much needed boost to their funds. On the same night, we also hosted Newbridge & District Ladies Choir for their annual Christmas Concert which was packed out and helped to raise funds not only for the ladies choir but for their chosen charity, St. David's Hospice Care. Then, on the 14th December - one of the highlights of the year! We enjoyed our Christmas Jumper Day! This was another brilliant, brilliant day that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and was a great way to get into the festive spirit but, by putting on this event, it enabled us to give a sizeable donation to our local foodbank at Tabernacle Baptist Church that had an estimated value of around £250/£300.
Then finally, to wrap up the year, yesterday we hosted our final rugby fixture for 2024 at the Welfare, against Cross Keys RFC, and donated the gate takings to Cross Keys to help them get back on their feet following the damage caused to their facilities following the recent flooding caused by storm Bert. This saw us hand over a donation of £2,800 which we hope will go some way to helping with the costly repairs that need to be carried out at our neighbouring club.
So, all in all, it certainly has been a Christmas Cracker this year at the Welfare and we would like to thank everyone that has played their part and contributed. We're sure that you have all enjoyed a lovely Christmas and now sign off by sending you all our best wishes for a happy, healthy new year!

We are a community rugby club currently running 10 teams. Our seniors play in Division 1 East of the WRU leagues and our youth team plays in the Dragons Regional Youth Leagues. We have a healthy mini & junior section who play on Sunday’s. Our Clubhouse is a fantastic facility which holds many community events and private functions. Our facilities are available to hire for all types of event. There’s ALWAYS a welcome at the Welfare.
