After the recent floods and damage caused by Storm Bert, we are delighted to confirm that 100% of the gate takings from our Ben Francis Cup clash with Cross Keys RFC on Saturday 28th December, will be handed over to Cross Keys officials following the game. We hope that our neighbours, who suffered so much damage to their clubhouse and facilities in the storm, will be able to put these funds to good use so that they can bring their facilities back up to the high standards that they were before Bert wreaked havoc.

This Saturday sees us visit another Club ground that has had a 10 year absence from our fixtures. The Parc Mawr ground of Bonymaen RFC has *ALWAYS* been a tough place to visit with us having mixed results from the time they joined us in the then National Leagues in the late 90's and early 00's. We're sure that this Saturday will be no different!!
With us having a considerable injury list at the moment, we would like to thank Penallta, Abercarn and Pontypool for allowing us to permit players so that we ensure this fixture could be fulfilled.

While there is always rivalry out on the pitch and all that goes with it in rugby, we always have nothing but utmost respect for the volunteers who put their life and soul into their respective Clubs and Clubhouses to make them what they are and to be the heartbeat of their local community. So to see the effect that today's horrendous weather has, once again, had on our neighbours at Cross Keys RFC and Blackwood Rugby Club News is utterly devastating for them. There have also, obviously, been other Clubs locally and nationally who have also been affected by Storm Bert and everyone at Newbridge RFC would like to wish all of them the very best as the recovery and restoration process begins.

Tomorrow evening sees us travel to familiar territory as we take on Cardiff Met at their Cyncoed ground. The Archers have had a mixed start to the season and currently lie in 10th spot in the league. HOWEVER, no visit to Cyncoed is ever easy and we are sure that they will provide a stern test for our boys tomorrow evening. Here is how our 🔵&⚫️'s will line up.

Saturday sees us welcoming Ystrad Rhondda Rugby Club to the Welfare and who can forget the double header that took place between our 2 Clubs on the 20th & 27th April last season!😬
What a rollercoaster🎢 ride that was!!
We're sure that this Saturday will prove to be just as testing as it was 6 months ago, both on and off the field, as their supporters will be as vociferous as ever, and their vuvuzelas📯🎺 will be in full flow too!

Congratulations to Nye Paterson who was selected for Welsh Academicals to play against Oxford University at Cardiff Arms Park yesterday. We're pleased to report a win for "The Accies" by 29 points to 10. Nye also crossed for a try but unfortunately it got ruled as disallowed😢.
Well done Nye, great to see our 🔵&⚫️'s getting picked for representative rugby.

🎅🏉THE FESTIVE LOCAL DERBY IS BACK!🏉🎅
Newbridge RFC is pleased to confirm that we will play our neighbours, Cross Keys RFC, in the preliminary round/quarter final of the Ben Francis Cup on Saturday 28th December at 2:30pm. This is a fantastic addition to our fixture list which will light up the period between Christmas and New Year with a proper, meaningful fixture. We look forward to seeing you - There's ALWAYS a Welcome at the Welfare!

The next player to join our 100 Club is Simon Veall. Simon's time in the senior 🟦&⬛️shirt started in the 2014/15 season with a midweek game against Swansea RFC and since then, he has grown into a tremendous player who has cemented his place in our squad. All of us at Newbridge send our congratulations to Simon on his 100th appearance for the Club in tomorrow's game against Newcastle Emlyn 🩵🐷🖤

Great News. Have been awarded Gold in the Great British Food awards. Judged by no other than Raymond Blanc one of my food heroes. Well done to Sandford Orchards and Dunkerton's who no doubt were strong competition.
