As a company based in North Shields we’re excited to be working with the brilliant Curious Monkey to bring the Curious Caravan to Howard Street next weekend, for this year’s Christmas market. As part of the North Shields Cultural Quarter programme, the caravan will be preparing to travel through time by sharing and collecting stories to inspire and shape the celebrations for North Shields’ 800th anniversary in 2025.

Visit the caravan on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December, get cosy and share your stories.

It's been a whole year since the North of the Tyne, Under the Stars festival finale!!! Following events in Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle, the city came to life with installations celebrating the history and culture of the North East.

What is your favourite memory???

THE SCRUM

Heads down
Shoulders strain
Legs firm
Hold fast

Many bodies
Shared brain
Lock tight
Hold fast

Kiss-close
In the rain
Both sides
Hold fast

They’re strong
Take the strain
Keep the faith
Hold fast

Battle-ready
Swallow pain
Hold fast
Hold fast
Hold fast

For the , Hull-based Women Of Words wrote new poems as part of a micro-commission for the RLWC Cultural Festival.

We've included a link where you can read all the poems but below is an example of their work.

The Fourteenth

A horde transformed to a united whole,
A heartbeat shared, a many-bodied soul.
We are the crowd. We are all the team,
A million dreamers with a single dream.
We are your arms, your legs, your blood, your bone
We stand with you in places far from home
To share our strength. And when you score the try,
We are the glad yell rising to the sky.

Cassandra Parkin, 2022
