In light of the recent spate of major corporations spitting their dummies out over diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) let me make myself clear on where I, my staff and my business will always stand.
We love diversity. We live for equality. We strive for inclusion. We stand WITH those who identify as whoever the heck they want, however the heck they want. Honestly, it's none of our business, and we are grateful for and very much value your business. You do you and please know that here, at Prohibition, you will be welcome and you will be safe. We've got you. 😊

We are a diverse, equal and inclusive space. We always have been and always will be. For our performers, for our staff, for you. Without diversity, equality and inclusion this world would be a VERY boring place. We only get one shot around this crackers Earth folks, so make it count, be yourself and simply allow others the same courtesy. Easy peasy! 😁 πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈ

Gan canny you lovely lot! ~ Mitch πŸ₯ƒ

What a sharp shootin', rootin' tootin' team of doozies I have! Our (eventual!) Christmas staff night out was held last night at Point Blank shooting range, where I discovered that, should I ever need to call upon their skills, they'd have me covered! Mrs. Boss included! πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘πŸΌ We ended the evening at the very snazzy Spot White West in the VIP room, as is tradition now, where ping pong, darts, pool and karaoke scores were settled! πŸ˜‚

I've got a fantastic team of staff here at Prohibition so it's always good to enjoy time together off the clock and have some fun! 😊

Here's to another year, gang and thanks for being mint! β€οΈπŸ™πŸΌ

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND at Prohibition Cabaret Bar! Happy New Year to you all!! I can't believe we made it to 2025 - by which I mean our happy little bar AND society in general... who'd have thought it?

We're kicking off the new year in style, because of course we are, with a whole weekend of free live music:

Fri 3rd: Opening the live entertainment in 2025 here at Prohibition is acoustic blues guitarist John Gregory. Having toured throughout the British isles and gigged in America, John provides a well practiced performance of finger picking, acoustic blues guitar with a particular lean towards the 1920s - so perfect for our bar. You can catch John's performance for free, just come on in and grab a space, and we'll have our Jar on the Bar out for cash donations. Doors on the day open at 6pm with the live music kicking off at 8pm.

Sat 4th: Performing here at Prohibition once again, phenomenal jazz singer and musician Rivkala. After a hugely successful 2024 for Riv, complete with hit singles and music video launches, we're thrilled to welcome her back to the stage to treat our guests to a top shelf night of smooth jazz. With a voice compared to Amy Winehouse and a captivating style all of her own, Riv will be performing her own material mixed with some popular hits, supported by two of the finest local jazz musicians on offer; Paul Grainger on bass and Alan Law on keys. This gig will be completely free to enjoy and we'll get the ol' Jar on the Bar out for cash donations. Doors at 6pm, live music from 8pm.

Sun 5th: This Sunday evening we've got lined up for you all Blues, Jazz and Americana trio Salty Dog. With a strong background in all three genres of music, specialising in the classics paying a particular respectful nod to the originators of the music. Consisting of Terry Docherty on guitar and vocals, Herbie Hudson on chromatic harmonica and vocals and John Robinson on acoustic bass. This gig will be free to enter and enjoy and we'll have the famous Jar on the Bar out for cash donations. Doors on the night open at 6pm with the live music from 7pm.

A good while ago now we launched a campaign that saved our bacon and got us out of somewhat of a financial pickle following the Covid pandemic as we tried to recover and stay afloat. We didn't have much to offer but came up with a way to raise vital funds but give something back to our supporters at the same time.

Our original illuminated sign from the first premises had come with us to our new digs but wasn't able to be put up outside due to conservation restrictions. So it sat, in two halves, gathering dust in our attic for several years. It was decided that we could reinstate the sign but put it up inside the venue upstairs. In return for your generous donations we offered one of the 81 lightbulbs in the sign to be named in your honour, the money raised going straight in the coffers to help keep us above water.

Well, you came forward in droves to sponsor a lightbulb and earlier this year we finally sold the last one, meaning it was time to get the sign down from the attic and ready to install. We purchased new LED bulbs to replace all the old filament ones and yesterday, with much elbow grease and sheer determination got it all s**c and span again and finally in place, high up on the venue wall.

To commemorate the generosity of those who donated and bought a bulb we've created a framed 'Roll of Honour' in the names the bulbs were purchased for. Some for families, some in loving memory of a lost one, some for bands, some for friends or partners, some bought more than one, but all for the collective goal of helping keep our lights on during difficult times while also giving you the opportunity to put your names in lights! πŸ’‘

So, without further a do, here is the sign. We think it looks pretty fantastic, if we do say so ourselves. It particularly warms my heart to see it lit up again.

We extend our most heartfelt thanks to each and every one of who donated and bought a bulb. Your love and support of Prohibition will be honoured and remembered every time we switch the sign on. We are truly grateful and humbled. It means so very much to us and is a beautiful sight to see.

We wish you all a ruddy wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you all at the bar again soon! Gan canny one and all!
