6 years ago I was desperate to leave full-time teaching. With two daughters aged 8 and 10 and a new baby, I was conscious of the amount of hours I had missed of my daughters' lives, how many sports days, productions, and parent evenings I had been unable to attend. I didn't want to keep feeling that guilt.
However, I had NO idea what I could do! How could I transfer my skills to something else? And what could I do that would give me the flexibility I craved?
Then I saw an advert for Mess Around and I was sold! The idea of being my own boss, still getting to work with children and their families but in a FUN way was everything I wanted and needed!!
I did hesitate, but 2 years later I launched Mess Around West Suffolk and four years later I am running the whole company! I suppose you could say that Mess Around is well and truly in my blood now!
Did I have any regrets? YES! I should have started 6 years ago!

When I finally decided to leave teaching I had just one question

"What the hell can I do?"

Six years ago I was on maternity leave with my youngest daughter and I was pretty certain I didn't want to return to my Deputy Heads position. I had fallen out of love with teaching and was resenting the time it was taking away from my family.
I saw an advert for Mess Around and was totally drawn in by their values and ethos -who wouldn't be!
Spending my days creating mess, having fun, meeting lots of new faces. It was perfect! It would take me two years to pluck up the courage to leave the rat race behind and become my own boss but I am so glad I did!

Mess Around West Suffolk launched in 2019 and in 2021 I took over the whole of Mess Around! I love the freedoms it has given me, I love the huge customer base I have met, many of whom I am still in touch with. I love walking down the street and hearing your little ones say "look! it's the messy lady"

Do I have any regrets? YES - just 1! Waiting 2 years to join, I can't ever get those two years back. I can however make the most of now!

Hello Slimers!
What a fabulous time we had today at Red Lodge!
Your Sponge Bob slimes were totally awesome and we got their in the end with our Seaweed slimes! (I was a bit heavy handed with the glue!!!)

You mastered some fabulous bubbles!
