Have you seen these before?! 😍👇
Amaranthus are one of my favourites for cut flower interest, perfect for hanging displays, or delicately draping over the edge of a vase of floral bouquet.
They’re so easy to grow too! These were direct sown into the ground, literally chucked in and left to do their own thing, and look at the result!
They come in three main colours, this deep red colour that you see here, a green which is great for foliage, and a biscuit colour… imagine that with a cafe au lait dahlia or those beige, apricot tones.
You can use them fresh or they can be dried too, simply place them in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight, and let them hang upside down and drape naturally! They should dry in about 2 weeks. Perfect for those Autumn/Winter creations!

I can’t believe it, 200,000 people follow me and my little British Flower Farm 🥰🌿
It’s absolute madness, but I have to say a big thank you for making this happen in one of the most challenging years for me. The fact that this can happen against all the odds, blows my mind and the kindness and love that you’ve shown has been astonishing.
It just shows the power of plants and growing and how that resonates with people all over the world. This time last year I had 15K followers, and now thanks to all of you getting involved, commenting and sharing, I’ve been able to work with more people than ever through my courses, memberships, online video masterclasses & 1-1s, and we’ve shared plant knowledge and tips to over 19million people in combined reach - How crazy is that?! 🤯🌿
And a huge thank you to @imtomcoleman for choosing to work with me over this past year on my social media - we’ve become a formidable dream team and the best of friends ❤️💪🏽
I’m so genuinely thankful for each and every one of you for being part of my journey, and being as flower mad as me - heres to more of that?! 🌹🌷🌼🍾🥂

Why we love giving hens a new life 🐓👇🏼
Not your usual Saturday morning job, but one we look forward to. We love @freshstart4hens who rescue chickens from battery farms, and find them new loving homes!
Commercially, all laying hens are slaughtered at the age of 72 weeks, when their production drops slightly. Their carcasses are worth very little and are usually sold for dog food, baby food or cheap, processed pies etc. @freshstart4hens work closely with British farmers and purchase the hens just before their slaughter date.
We love rehoming them and giving them a new free range life! They’ll still lay for years to come, and in just a few weeks their skin will heal and feathers will regrow and they’ll look good as new and be happier than they’ve ever been!
We’ll show you their progress over the next few weeks…
🚨 Controversial Post Alert 🚨
Hey everyone, I need your input on this! Imagine someone cancels a course with only 5 days’ notice. We all know it’s impossible to fill that spot, especially when we’re sold out. 😤
What would you do?
1️⃣ Refund completely
2️⃣ Refund half
3️⃣ No refund at all
I learned the hard way that having no terms and conditions for our farm courses was a big mistake. I’ve never needed them before, but it seems like it’s time to set some rules. Lesson learned! 📚

Quick Update on My Cancer Journey
Three chemo sessions down, halfway there! As Catherine Middleton said, there are good and bad days. The hardest are days 2-5 days post-chemo, then 2.5 weeks off to recover.
I’ve met amazing people: reflexologists, massage therapists, hairdressers, and wig specialists. Losing my hair was tough, but my new wig is fantastic. Did anyone notice?
I’m still working and loving it. This week: two weddings, thousands of stems to London florists, Flower Friday subscriptions, a new polytunnel, sowing biennials, and planting dahlias. Our team is incredible!
A big shoutout to @wendyamansell for raising £2k for cancer charities.
We’re planning a Sustainable Florist Course (July 27), farm day (August), and Flower Farmers’ Retreat (September). Our Seed to Vase and Blooming Business courses are thriving!
I’m also writing a book, Be Careful Who You Listen To. It will be free, with donations to breast cancer charities.
If you want to work with me, comment “WORK WITH YOU” below. 💖

It’s a whole year round thing🌷👇🏼
In the last few years we’ve become obsessed with Tulips here at @fieldgateflowers
We grow over 30,000 of them at the farm for cutting - we take them to London markets and provide florists with bountiful supplies throughout spring, and it really works for us! The more you do, the more scale you have and the more efficient it becomes!
It’s ended up being a year round obsession though. In spring of course we’re harvesting thousands of stems and taking them to markets, then in late Spring we went on a visit to Holland to visit our suppliers and the growers to see how they do it, get tips from them and see the latest hot varieties! It was incredible to witness and we learned so much!
We work with the teams there to choose the best varieties based on stem length, prolific flowering and popular colours, plus a variety of flowering periods to prolong the season.
Then right now, we take pre-orders on tulip bulbs to sell to the public & flower farmers - we keep them as close to wholesale prices as we can, to allow other flower farmers and growers to make their margins too and help others to grow - in every sense of the word 🌱
They ship out in Autumn, and so the team will be busy packing orders and sending out packages. And of course, the hard work starts as we dig big shallow trenches with the digger and then plant those 30,000 bulbs by hand so they’re all the right way up and ready to go. This year it took us until December to get them in due to the weather conditions, but they didn’t mind, and with a mild spring they were shooting up earlier than ever!
Who’s growing tulips on their patch or farm?! What’s your experience been with them? Feel free to ask any questions or advice! 👇🏼😍

Why bigger does mean better 👇🏼
Ive had so many messages from people wanting to know when our tulip & spring bulb catalogue would be released and… it’s here!! 🤩
After our recent trip to Holland to learn even more about where our bulbs come from, which are the best, and to find some new incredible varieties, we’re really pleased to get this years bulbs on sale!
Most tulip bulbs that are available for ordering within the UK are unsized (aka small 9-10s) but these are 12+ bulbs, which means that they have a circumference of 12cm or more. They really are top quality, beautiful bulbs that I have hand-selected to cover the breadth of the tulip growing season, stem length and colour for cutting. And I’m offering them at the best possible prices so that for flower farmers, florists & growers in general can buy as many as they need without breaking the bank!
Comment ‘BIGBULBS’ below and I’ll send you the Spring bulb catalogue, which also features a selection of ranunculus & narcissi bulbs too 🤩👇🏼 For the first time it’s a digital catalogue/ shop too - so you can select what you want, add to basket and checkout! Then you can wait with smugness knowing that in Autumn I’ll deliver your bulbs, and you’ve got everything covered.
