Good evening all, I apologise for the lack of communication in regards to racing events. As previously shared, we were unable to host events in Newport during the pandemic and had to work in partnership with the farmer who has been subject to a comprehensive insurance audit.
Whilst we do not currently have the outcome from the insurance report, it is evident that the delays in progress will have a negative impact on the club's ability to hosts future events, subject to strict insurance conditions. In the absence of an update following the insurance audit, we have been unable to submit our renewal planning application.
Regrettably, the impact of this means no racing can take place at St Brides without planning permission. From experience decisions on our previous planning applications have taken upto 6 months to conclude so the future of racing at St Brides looks doubtful for the foreseeable.
I appreciate that this news will be disappointing for some of you but it is all out of our control. No amount of negative comments will change the barriers we may face with strict conditions set following the insurers' audit.
For spectators that still want to experience banger racing for 2023, then the nearest track to us is Mendips Raceway where you can be sure to be entertained with some smashing fun.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time.
Once we hear more, we will of course provide an update but at present racing will not go ahead for the reasons outlined above.
