Good evening all, I apologise for the lack of communication in regards to racing events. As previously shared, we were unable to host events in Newport during the pandemic and had to work in partnership with the farmer who has been subject to a comprehensive insurance audit.

Whilst we do not currently have the outcome from the insurance report, it is evident that the delays in progress will have a negative impact on the club's ability to hosts future events, subject to strict insurance conditions. In the absence of an update following the insurance audit, we have been unable to submit our renewal planning application.

Regrettably, the impact of this means no racing can take place at St Brides without planning permission. From experience decisions on our previous planning applications have taken upto 6 months to conclude so the future of racing at St Brides looks doubtful for the foreseeable.

I appreciate that this news will be disappointing for some of you but it is all out of our control. No amount of negative comments will change the barriers we may face with strict conditions set following the insurers' audit.

For spectators that still want to experience banger racing for 2023, then the nearest track to us is Mendips Raceway where you can be sure to be entertained with some smashing fun.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time.

Once we hear more, we will of course provide an update but at present racing will not go ahead for the reasons outlined above.

Good evening all, firstly let me apologise for the lack of communication in regards to racing events. As previously shared, we were unable to host events in Newport, Wales during 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid restrictions. I appreciate that many people were clearly frustrated by this, evident in their defamatory statements but Wales has always had different restrictions to that of England.

During 2021 our insurers whom have been part of the club's journey for 9 years were forced to permanently drop out of the market due to the impact of the Covid pandemic which was extremely disappointing. However, we were fortunate to secure another insurance company but at a considerable increase in premiums for 12 months cover at a time. Regrettably, this meant it was not financially viable to hold 1 or 2 events for the remainder of 2021 season when restrictions were gradually lifting.

It is encouraging to see that Covid restrictions continue to lift in Wales and it was looking promising for our 2022 season to start up again. However, we must work in partnership with the farmer who is currently undergoing a comprehensive insurance audit which is expected to take a few months to complete. The outcome of the report will have a direct impact on the club in terms of our own insurance cover arrangements as we must ensure that we continue to meet the criteria set by the farmer's insurers. In addition, the club's planning permission is due for renewal.

Whilst the farmer fully supports me in running our banger racing events on his land, he has kindly asked me to wait until receipt of his insurance audit report before I submit our planning application. This is a precautionary measure so that we can be confident the planning committee is fully informed in regard to our event management strategy which forms part of our planning application. From experience decisions on our previous planning applications have taken upto 6 months to conclude so considering this timescale it is highly unlikely that we will be in a position to host racing events during the 2022 season. I appreciate that this may be disappointing news but please be mindful that no amount of negative derogatory comments will speed up matters outside our control.

We have been running banger racing events at St Brides Bangers since 2011 and are committed to ensuring that banger racing returns to Newport at the earliest opportunity made available to us. If the insurance and planning processes move quicker than expected, then of course we will aim to put on events for 2022, however as these processes are outside our control, it is more appropriate to focus on a return for May 2023 season at this time.

Should this change then I will update you but it is important not to raise expectations unnecessarily. I hope you understand the situation we currently face and thank you for your continued patience while we focus on securing a return to banger racing in Newport. Kind Regards Deb

Dear all, I apologise for the delay in keeping you updated on racing but I've clearly been enjoying the time off more than most! As you all know Covid is still very much with us with the Welsh Government closely controlling the restrictions we all face.

I have not set any dates for 2021 season at present because I simply do not want to keep cancelling events due to current Covid restrictions which are outside our control. However, it is clear that we will not be racing in May 2021 due to the current restrictions in Wales.

I will of course keep you updated when I'm in a position to set dates once social distancing rules are lifted. In the meantime please take care and stay safe.

Regards
Deb

Good afternoon, it is with deep regret that we must inform you that we will not be holding any race meetings in 2020.

We appreciate this may be disappointing news and I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but hope you understand the exceptional challenges we have faced this year.

Our 2021 race season is scheduled to start on 3rd May 2021, so lets hope that our 2021 race season brings with it a safe, sunny and smashing year of fast and competitive racing (finally!)

In the meantime, take care and stay safe all.

Good afternoon all, I hope you're all keeping safe and well. As you've probably guessed by now we will not be racing on 9th August.

We are working closely with our insures following submission of our robust risk assessment and operating procedures and hope to be in a position over the next 2 weeks to confirm if we can return on 31st August under Covid restrictions of course.

I appreciate this is disappointing news and I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but hope you understand the exceptional circumstances we are currently facing this race year.

I will of course keep you updating when I'm in a position to do so. In the meantime please take care and stay safe.

Kind regards
Deb

Dear all, we hope that you're all keeping safe and well. Unfortunately as the Welsh Government has continued with their restrictions on public gatherings for the forseeable future it will come as no surprise that we have to cancel yet another scheduled race day, this time on 12th July.

Whilst this is frustrating and may disappoint some of you, we simply have to comply with the government restrictions. We will of course keep you updated on any developments and really hope that we will have the opportunity to race in August so will keep you updated. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe πŸ˜·πŸ‘

Dear all, we hope that you're all keeping safe and well and enjoying the glorious weather despite the social distancing restrictions. Whilst there has been some easing of lock down rules, the Welsh Government has continued with their restrictions on public gatherings for the forseeable future. Therefore it will come as no surprise that 2 more of our scheduled race dates of 14th and 28th June will now need to be cancelled.

Whilst this is frustrating and may disappoint some of you, we simply have to comply with the government restrictions. We will of course keep you updated on any developments. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe πŸ‘

Hello all, we hope you are all keeping safe and well during these challenging and often confusing times ! So while England has phased the lifting of some of their lockdown rules, Wales has continued with their lockdown rules for at least another 3 weeks. Therefore it will come as no surprise that we have to cancel the 25th May event. Whilst we appreciate this is frustrating please remember the famous saying that 'it is always better to be safe than sorry'. In addition, the precautions mean you'll all get to live to see another day! 😷 In the meantime, please take care, stay alert πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ and stay safeπŸ‘
