The sweet spots for Time Under Tension appear to be 4-20 seconds for strength and power and 40-60 seconds for hypertrophy.
It is easy to stick to this if you're training heavy and low reps, however if your goal is hypertrophy (optimal muscle size building) and you're flying through your 8 to 12 reps in 15 to 20 seconds, you may be falling short of the sweet spot.
Obviously there are many other variables and other techniques that may dictate to you when and how to implement this basic timing method into your training. But be mindful and use this as a general rule.
