It’s coming up to Rose & Ciarán’s wedding anniversary so no better time to look back on their beautiful day. Chilled vibes reigned on this day!

And despite not being able to have their ceremony outside as originally planned due to the weather, they still managed to get lots of beautiful photos in the stunning grounds of with Strangford Lough as their backdrop 💕

🔑 Out of office 🔑

Summer holidays are here and with that, I’m taking a break to be able to spend more time with my kids and family. This will mean I’ll not have fresh flowers arriving in as frequently over the next few weeks (outside of wedding weeks that is).

And it goes without saying, I will of course devote all my energy to my summer weddings as they approach (so couples, fear not!), and if you wish to enquire about my wedding services, I’ll answer those queries over the coming weeks as well. Wee walk down memory lane and possible SUMMER bouquet inspo from Jess and Oisin, who wed last August 🩷💥🍾🧡

The vibrancy of Jessica’s floral choice was matched only by the high-energy vibe of the wedding itself - think all shades of pink, pops of orange and the all important peonies (peonies are unlikely to be readily available this August due to weather/growing conditions, which shows how crucial a degree of flexibility and trust in your florist can be)

✨ For Heather, who married Lorna on Saturday ✨

No better way to spend a bank holiday weekend than getting married! Particularly when you live in a most beautiful part of the country, between water and the ; dreamy.

Heather requested a petite bouquet, filled with scented flowers including sweet pea and freesia, and with a delicacy found only with these ‘lighter’ blooms. It took me two attempts to create this one as I found the smaller, thinner stems require more skill than say, larger roses and a lightness of touch was absolutely key. Delighted to have included some alliums that I grew myself (definitely something I’m keen to do more off!)

The bouquets were tied with hessian and I adored this spring colour palette, with its hues of purple and pops of sunny yellow. Huge thanks to Heather and Lorna for asking me to play a small part in their gorgeous at-home wedding celebration.

A lovely morning with Tullyorier Sunflowers & Scarecrows spent at the Olde Mill garden centre & cafe in Dromore! Olde Mill Garden Centre

A great spot for your flowers and plants, not to mention the coffee and traybakes in the cafe!

Next Tuesday will be our last session ladies, and we will meet at 1030 back in Annaclone when we will perfect our technique in creating beautiful hand tied bouquets 💐💐💐

Please bring your flowers and foliage, as well as some paper/ tissue paper/ ribbon to wrap them in (I will also bring a selection for anyone who needs some)

If you’ve not had time to press or dry any flowers/foliage, don’t worry as we will try the process out with a microwave in the morning! I have used this method and it worked really well!

So just bring some flowers or foliage and a picture frame if you have one, and we will have a go and see what we create!

Delighted to share some photos from Kym and Aaron’s wedding from last June. Kym went for delicate shades of pink which toned beautifully with the purple and damson shades of the bridal party. BTW there’s nothing like being greeted by a smiling bride (and mother-of-the-bride!) when she first sees her wedding bouquet 💕

Kym decided against bouquets for her maids and instead chose wrist corsages, in the same pretty colours as her own flowers. And why not; Your wedding your way! I think it’s important that a wedding florist can listen hard to the couple’s wishes and work with them to deliver not necessarily what the florist would go for, but what the couple wants for their Big Day.

And don’t the photos just capture our stunning local landscape beautifully; mountains and sea all at once - picture perfect.

Fancy a fun and relaxed evening here in my Co Down workshop creating a pretty table centrepiece in time for Valentine’s Day?!

Why not invite your bestie, your partner, daughter or mum (or come on your own; you’ll be made very welcome!) and learn how to make something that will brighten up your home — think delicate tulips, wavy ranunculus and vibrant foliage.

There’ll be no nasty floral foam used, just the freshest of seasonal flowers and we will OF COURSE have refreshments on tap as you work.

Blue Monday? No thanks, not when the sun is shining (ok, I know it’s actually freezing but still!) and these stunning blue delphiniums from Finola’s bouquet make us think of warmer days to come!

Sharing a few memories from a lovely day last May in Harvey’s Point in Donegal, celebrating the nicest couple, Finola and Aron. I loved that Finola embraced a hint of blue in her flowers, which turned out to be a lovely companion to the peaches and cream of the bouquet.

What’s your take on having blue in your wedding flowers?

Buying yourself or a friend some blooms for Christmas? Great idea! Here's a few tips to get the best out of your flowers this time of year, when our homes are (hopefully) warm with central heating and cosy fires:

🦌 Firstly, when you get them home give your flowers & foliage a trim (a tiny 1cm is plenty) on an angle as this increases the surface area of the stem and helps maximise water absorption. You can do this once again a few days later when you're changing the water

🦌Place in fresh, room temp water, ensuring all leaves/greenery/thorns are removed so as to avoid a sludgy slime developing (I'll always clean the stems but you'll likely notice supermarkets rarely bother to do so). Change the water every other day

🦌While we want to enjoy our flowers by placing them in the busiest part of our home where they'll be most seen, this is probably where it's warmest and not ideal for your blooms. Counter this by bringing the vase or display to a cooler place like a hallway, utility etc at night. Similarly, never place flowers near an open fire or radiator as they will wilt faster

Do these and you'll get longer from your flowers! Anyone have any other tips I've missed?

✨ It's time to reserve your Christmas Blooms ✨

In between all the making of festive wreaths, I thought I should post about how to order in your festive flowers and bits for the Christmas period!

So for those who reminded me (thank you!) I'll have a selection of beautiful festive gift bouquets and loose stems of berries and foliage available for collection, next Friday (22nd) and Saturday (23rd). I *may have some capacity for local deliveries but collection from me is your safest bet.

Colour palettes will be either traditional reds and purples, or cool whites both with a selection of the freshest foliage and greenery (of course). Gift bouquets start at £42 and loose stem + foliage bundles from £20. To order yours simply:

Depending on how quickly I get through current orders for wreaths, I *may have capacity for more of those so if you'd still like a long lasting outdoor wreath, please do enquire. Similarly for grave wreaths/sprays, please do ask about those (and given these are made fresh with a reusable moss base and no nasty floral foam, they take longer to create).
