The Riverside Centre, opened in 1995, has served the older people of Newton Stewart and the surrounding area for nearly 20 years. With several of our members coming from rural areas outwith the town, buses with wheelchair access are available to transport people to and from the centre 5 days a week. A variety of activities and trips are frequently organised by members and staff alike varying from theater trips to Glasgow to weekly Tai Chi lessons in the centre itself.

Our Story

The Riverside Centre, opened in 1995, has served the older people of Newton Stewart and the surrounding area for nearly 20 years. With several of our members coming from rural areas outwith the town, buses with wheelchair access are available to transport people to and from the centre 5 days a week. A variety of activities and trips are frequently organised by members and staff alike varying from theatre trips to various activities in the centre itself.

Our aim is to support the older people in the area and help prevent social isolation.

We are a Scottish charity and we are partially funded by Dumfries and Galloway Council

We rely on fundraising to keep the Centre running and providing the activities people enjoy
