It was this beautiful brides birthday this weekend and it got me reminiscing about this wedding day. Our FIRST EVER wedding back in 2019! Hann + Zach you will always have a huge special place in our hearts. Thank you for trusting us, for making the shed look and feel so beautiful and bringing a little bit of California dreamin’ to our shed. Penblwydd Hapus Hann.

Quiet 😌 we are slap bang in the middle of our quiet time at The Shed. We are a seasonal venue, open from May-September so we take time through the winter to recharge and prepare for the year ahead, slotting in the busiest time on the farm in between. It’s a really nice to reflect on the year too. Looking back and really appreciating the incredible weddings we’ve been able to host this year 💒💕🪩

☔️ It’s like rain ☔️ Yep, 2023 was pretty wet on occasions this summer! Weather is truly the only thing we have ZERO control over on your wedding day! We have our awesome covered bar area, plenty of space in the shed (also with a bar) so fear not - we got you covered (literally). Also rain is so freaking romantic if you ask me? Who’s with me?

Want my advice?
Find + search for suppliers you love.
Don’t rush into booking your suppliers, give yourself a bit of research time. When you get engaged you will probably start following more wedding based accounts on your socials so you will be introduced to a lot more awesome stuff, once your venue is booked ask us for recommendations. Buuuuut, when you find your peeps get them booked in!!!! There is nothing worse than loving someone, following them and then finding out they’re not available.
I’m sure there are many of you out there that aren’t even engaged yet but know who you’d love, you my friends are ahead of the game 💖 find your peeps and commit, I promise you won’t ever regret booking the people you love.

Juicy Deets - I’ll tell you what photographers love - a detail shot a chance to create a little flat lay of your details, things that you could overlook and then later regret not capturing. So a handy tip is to collect the little things like your wedding stationary, ribbon, hair slides, jewels, florals, rings basically anything cute that means something to you and have them available for your photographer in your wedding day.

🪩CEREMONY🪩 I can’t highlight this point enough. Your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be. Often the ceremony is the most ‘unplanned’ thought when it comes to your wedding planning, but there are options for everyone one and it doesn’t have to be so impersonal.
Want a short + sweet ceremony with zero fuss? Hire a registrar.
Want a more personalised, full of love , fun + joy where anything goes? Hire a celebrant.
On a budget but still want that personal feel for the ceremony? Ask a friend or family member to take the reins (work closely with them in the planning)!!

BLACK + WHITE // I had to share an image from black and white QUEEN for todays post. This is strutting his stuff earlier this year at the most incredible wedding! We cannot WAIT to share more of this day with you, this wedding really did push all of the traditional boundaries into oblivion and was a true reflection of the couple. Just INCREDIBLE

We’ve created an alternative wedding venue, somewhere where people can be themselves, create a wedding that really celebrates them, without the weight of any unwanted traditions or expectation. People who view the shed already understand what it will be, the welcome they’ll get the vibes and shapes we throw. We believe in tolerance, diversity and inclusion. We ask that all people visiting our venue uphold our community standards with us, and have a zero tolerance policy on behaviour which breaks our community rules - so basically, again. Don’t be a dick.

This is something that we’ve focused on since day one. Weddings need to be about what you want. Traditions don’t have to be followed, rules are made to be broken and why can’t we start making new ones anyway?
It is happening, we’ve seen couples do things their way and this industry sure is moving forward and seeing this more and more, guests are raving about weddings instead of the saying meh all weddings are the same. I’m not saying don’t have a traditional wedding, if you love the traditions, do them, if you don’t then, well don’t! You do you boo.

The wedding planning, coordination, styling, logistics, cocktail shakin’ shot suppling, problem solving team that even we didn’t know existed until we dived head first into this venture in 2019! Turns out our separate skills, when merged together are pretty much exactly what is needed to run a fu***ng incredible alternative wedding venue!
Have we made mistakes? OF COURSE we have! But we never ever blame each other for things and always create a solution together……..plus, even when we’re run off our feet and in super stress mode, Neilo always, always comes to give me a hug and check in.
It just works!

Let’s have a quick catch up….I’m currently working full time at a school and feel like I’ve overlooked this funny little world of the grid, there just isn’t enough hours in the day to do it all, also it’s almost December so it’ll all be getting a lot busier! Today I’m lying in bed with an awful bug, genuinely haven’t been this ill in years, but I still have the guilts about having to post to the grid for the first time in a while! It’s hard sometimes to prioritise everything that I want to but let’s all put everything into perspective……we are fully booked for 2024, 2025 bookings are coming in thick and fast and we are so excited for summer to roll round again, The Shed is in a place we only could have dreamed of when we opened in 2019 and I do feel that we are incredibly hard on ourselves! But we are here and we are still creating the most incredible space for your big day!

Choose your crew that will mirror your energy! If your energy is big party energy, choose those peeps who will bring the party, if you want a chill laid back kinda vibe then choose those peeps who will help you have an easy going day. Also have someone or a couple of peeps that know what is happening, keep them updated with the timeline and plans, so that they can help out on the day with any questions from peeps.
It really does change the whole dynamic of day getting the right crew.

Faye + Robyn had one of the “summer” days that couldn’t decide if it was going to be a full on drencher or a sweet day of summer 🌈 These two planned a day that was totally geared to their guests experience, taking every moment in their stride and filling it with laughter.
