On Tuesday, we had a fantastic communication masterclass with Sam, who trained us on how to effectively communicate in all situations.
Based on the book "Reading the Room" by David Kantor, we explored the three voices of communication: power, affect, and meaning.

Everyone learned something new, and our interns especially enjoyed it and felt more confident!

At the end of April, Active Norfolk and the Norfolk School Sport Partnerships hosted our first ‘Careers Through Sports Leadership’ Conference.

The day saw 12 secondary schools from across the county bring their sports leaders from KS4 to The Space, to support them to think about different opportunities that could be accessed beyond their secondary education, using their skills gained in sports leadership to do so.

Workshops included an introduction to higher education by University of East Anglia (UEA), fun teamwork activities by Premier Education UK, an engaging session on different types of apprenticeships from NCC Pathways to Work, engaging practical activities by City College Norwich and Easton College, and a STEM session from the Armed Forces.

We are very grateful to Inspire+, all of our other partners that delivered engaging sessions, and to the schools and pupils for being so involved on the day for creating the start of an exciting annual opportunity for pupils across Norfolk.

Due to the success of the event, we are planning on returning next year, growing the breadth of sessions on offer for young people, and partners who might be interested in engaging with pupils thinking about their next steps after mainstream education. The ‘Superstars’ themed show will see hundreds of pupils from schools across the partnership dancing their socks off on the stage at The Space in Norwich.

We're having a lively day at The Space today with a career fair! Let's get to know some of the stand holders here!

1.Ace Project offers education, training, and support through various projects, courses, and study programs for school children, young people, and unemployed adults in Norfolk.

2.Apprenticeships Norfolk provides free advice and guidance for apprenticeship seekers and offers step-by-step support for employers interested in offering apprenticeships.

3.St Edmunds Society, a Norwich-based charity, offers vocational training and employability skills training to young people aged 16-18 (or up to 25 with an EHCP). They collaborate with tutors and industry experts to equip young individuals with the skills and experience needed for their future.

4.Green Light Trust, a well-respected environmental education charity, utilises the Power of Nature to transform lives. With woodlands near Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, RSPB Minsmere, RSPB Strumpshaw Fen, and other project locations around East Anglia, they provide support to disadvantaged or marginalised adults and children, aiding them with their wellbeing, work, and life skills through woodland and online programs.

5.Ixion (part of Shaw Trust) is a national, not-for-profit, Ofsted 'Good' training provider of skills and education. They prioritise personalised support, dedicating care to developing and advancing careers from the moment of contact.
