The Maids Head team had a fantastic night at the Norfolk Food and Drink Awards last night.

Unfortunately, we didn't win our category for Food/Drink experience but we were extremely proud to be finalists. Well done to Yalm for winning this award and the other finalists Love Norwich Food walking tours and Rocky Bottoms in West Runton.

What a wonderful way to celebrate all of the amazing Norfolk Food and Drink businesses. Well done to all the winners and finalists of the evening 👏

We are very excited to have a new festive event on the calendar this year. The lovely Marcela from Emporium Norwich will be hosting a Brigadeiro's workshop and afternoon tea with us on Sunday 22nd December.

Marcela will present the history and demonstrate the making of the Brigadeiro's. You will then have the opportunity to create your own gift wrapped boxes of chocolates before enjoying a traditional Maids Head afternoon tea. Just £70 per person.

The Paston Family in Norwich Map
Dr Rob Knee, a local historian and Paston family specialist, has kindly donated to the Hotel an illustrated map titled “The Paston Family in Norwich”. This map shows a walk around the Cathedral Quarter encompassing all the landmarks associated with the Paston family. These landmarks include the Maids Head. The map was designed by Graphic Designer, Peter Stibbons.

Rob said “I wanted to create a map to show the links to the hotel and the story. The map is for guests to enjoy, and plan walks whilst visiting the city”. The map is already proving popular for guests to stop and look at on their way to the 15th Century WinePress Restaurant.

A big thank you to Dr Rob Knee and Peter Stibbons from us all at the Maids Head.

Great little hotel with bucket loads of history, good price and with the added rarity of a city-centre hotel with parking. Breakfast was also excellent. We will definitely return for future Norwich shopping trips!

It's Afternoon Tea week!

Our traditional Afternoon Tea is served daily from 12.00 – 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 2.00pm – 4.00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You can enjoy it either from the comfort of an armchair in one of our lounges, or in our historic WinePress Restaurant. Alternatively in our pretty Courtyard.

Presented on traditional cake stands, we offer finger sandwiches and a selection of savouries curated by our Pastry Chef, Anthony. Freshly baked scones and a tempting assortment of seasonal cake bites accompany these. All served with loose leaf tea or coffee if you prefer. Even our jam is homemade.

If you are planning a mini break to Norwich this summer our Catherine of Aragon Suite is the perfect option. This luxurious suite offers a home from home feel with a spacious lounge area with cosy sofas and a dining table for a comfortable and inviting living space. The Catherine of Aragon suite provides a restful bedroom with English hand drawn and printed linen of flowers and birds and boasts a roll top bath. The bathroom offers a large walk-in shower.

Excellent. Fantastic Hotel and Staff
I spent a couple of nights at the hotel last week with a friend. Very pleasant welcome. The young chap on reception took my case to my room due to mobility issues. Everything was lovely. Super staff. Accommodation and food lovely. Special mention to Jack who was extremely pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the Bentley tour and the driver was extremely pleasant. A lovely end to our few days away. I have travelled all over the world and worked in hotels myself and have to say the staff are some of the best I have ever known and they made our stay very pleasant.

Staff came to together from all departments for our quarterly Vision and Values Awards.
This is an opportunity for all the departments to get together and to celebrate our People, our Guests and our Heritage.

Staff were awarded with vouchers after receiving nominations from colleagues , or a recommendation from a guest. 124 vouchers were handed out with Jack our meetings events supervisor receiving the most nominations.

Staff are also asked to vote for an employee of the quarter, someone they feel has gone above and beyond. This went to our talented Pastry Chef, Anthony, who received a £100 Amazon voucher from our owner Mr Chaplin. Very well deserved.

It was also an opportunity for us to recognise two highly valued members of the Maids Head team.

We sadly said our goodbyes to June in Housekeeping. June has worked at the Hotel for over 16 years and has seen many changes in this time. We wish June a long and happy and well deserved retirement. June had the Maids Head VIP experience and was driven home in style in one of Vintage Bentleys.

We also recognised Noi for clocking up an incredible 25 years of getting up tirelessly at 6.00am every day to serve breakfast to our guests. Many congratulations Noi.

Our staff are what makes the Maids Head Hotel so special and we are grateful for them all.
