Based in the fine city of Norwich, Rob Dodsworth Photography, specialise in stylish, elegant documentary wedding photography & creative portraiture to couples throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, or, wherever your wedding may happen to take me! I’m passionate about photography because I get a real buzz capturing special moments that go into making your day – the first look between a bride

and her groom, the squeeze of a hand at the altar – those memories that you will want to treasure forever. What I love most about photography is that it allows me to capture the love, beauty and emotion of your day – moments in time that in your photographs will endure a lifetime. I hope that you'll like what I do and if so, then don't hesitate to get in touch-I’d love to hear more about your special day!

“Rob was our brilliant wedding photographer who captured our day so perfectly.

He was so funny and friendly, got on with all our guests and felt like one of the crowd! He managed to capture seemingly small and subtle moments, which were so special.

We particularly loved his natural way of photography and having photos standing under a rainbow at the end of the day was just the cherry on top!

Highly recommend, thanks Rob! Abi and Scott x”

Jake and Rob’s wedding at The Manor Barn, Harlton, was a musical theatre lover’s dream come true 🎭

With a big band theme and a day full of surprises, it was truly a spectacle!

Their wedding was an absolute pleasure to capture, especially since they understood and appreciated my natural, authentic approach 💕

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the photos that are a part of their album. Enjoy!

“I love working with Rob.

He is one of the most personable photographers I know and instantly builds a rapport with his subjects, putting them at ease and capturing the most evocative memories.

His eye for spotting moments in time amazes me every time, those little glances, minute facial expressions that say a thousand words!

My clients are never disappointed and not only do they get amazing photographs but they always comment on what a joy Rob is to have at the wedding, always smiling and chatting with guests.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for a charismatic photographer to contact Rob.”

Natural. Sincere. Heartfelt. Hilarious.

That’s exactly how I love to capture a wedding day.

Ed and Emelie’s wedding at Chaucer Barn was all of these things and so much more!

Chaucer Barn, a hidden gem in the Norfolk countryside, provided the perfect backdrop for their beautiful outdoor ceremony. 🌳

The day was filled with amazing food, vintage funfair games, and a Swedish twist on wedding traditions.🎠

I’m slimming down how many weddings I do in a year.

Demand is high!

Everyone is falling in love and getting married all over the place.

It’s great for me.

I get to spend weekends hanging out with people on the happiest day of their lives, munching canapes and making them even happier by capturing their smiling little faces. 📸

But I also quite like my own family, and it would be nice to see them sometimes.

So all that being said, I still have a few slots left for next year and if you’ve been eyeing me up for your wedding, it’s best to reach out now before they get filled up!

I became self-employed so I could spend more time with the people that matter the most to me, so this is a welcome change. I didn’t want to lose sight of what’s really important.

Yay! I got interviewed by ~The Guardian!

Oh wait… 🧐

😂

After discussing my long and illustrious career as a photographer, THIS is what they gleaned from the conversation.

Oh well, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, eh?

For those of you looking for a wedding photographer:

I promise this only happened the once. I’ve learnt my lesson.

And I still have a few open spots coming up for the '25 wedding season!

Just pop me a message on here, or via my weddings website, and let’s talk.

A Wedding at Jesus College, Cambridge

From the relaxed morning prep to the dream-like light in the chapel, their ceremony was simply stunning.

Isabel and Arthur wanted a relaxed, non-staged approach to their photos—right up my alley!

Here’s what they had to say: “Rob did a fantastic job capturing special moments while being a ‘fly on the wall.’ We absolutely LOVE our photos. They aren’t staged at all, which is just what we wanted.”

“Rob is one special guy!

I emailed Rob very last minute (the day before!) to arrange a family shoot for my Grandparents 60th Anniversary. My Grandad had not been well the months before so we’d not been able to secure a date with a photographer in advance of the anniversary meal.

As it was such a special occasion, my family and I really wanted to have someone capture the evening.

In less than 2 hours after my enquiry, Rob had dropped me a voice note, and we chatted on the phone soon after. Rob was very happy to help and wanted to do everything he could to make sure he could be there for us all, even if it was only briefly to capture something of the evening.

My Nan is usually very camera shy and doesn’t like the thought of being in front of a camera. I gave Rob the heads up and he had my Nan in fits of laughter immediately on arrival and she seemed very relaxed having Rob capture her and our family together to celebrate, in fact, I think my Nan was playing up to the camera in the end!

We now have some absolutely wonderful photos of my grandparents, capturing beautifully how they still feel about each other. As well as this, we all felt Rob was such a warm and friendly guy, as if we’d known him for so much longer than just the hour or so that evening.

Rob made everyone laugh and we all loved his company. We are so happy you could help us out Rob, and will be forever grateful to have such special memories captured.

We will definitely be in touch again for any more family celebrations. For anyone considering Rob, you will not be disappointed, a truly wonderful person.”

I keep forgetting to post to Facebook - is anyone still out there?

Well, just in case, here's one I posted on Instagram, a few days back, from a fab day hanging out with Abby & Tom last August.

I'm still busy catching up to Summer weddings, alongside print orders and album designs in time for Christmas!

It has also been a great month for new bookings with 3 of those being from people I have met at previous weddings spanning 2015-2020! That means so much to me so thanks again to those folks! Over the moon with that!!!

It also means that my peak dates are pretty much fully booked, since I also plan to do fewer weekend weddings in 2023. I will be doing more weekday weddings though so look me up for those if you're planning a weekday wedding next year!

For now, if you don't already, follow me on Instagram to see more.

Have a great weekend all!

Actual frame of Claire saving my details to her phone, at the wedding prep for - she and James booked today and I know it's going to be a good one, not least because Emma needs to get her own back for THAT speech!

This is the second time in as many weeks that I have had a booking come in from someone who was a guest at a previous wedding.

And I am currently waiting to hear back from another couple who were guests at a wedding I photographed 8 years ago - fingers and toes crossed!

13 years in this game and it means so, so much to me that people come back like this - thanks most recently to and !!!

10/10/2022

At my most recent wedding, the Groom used his speech to talk about how he had been able to come through a struggle with his mental health with the support of his now wife. It was amazing to hear and there was a lot I could relate to. My wife has helped me no end with my mental ill-health.

It took strength to talk about his struggle so openly. I could hear it in his voice.

It's a great thing that we can talk more openly about these issues.

But the stigma attached to mental ill-health means that many people, still suffer in silence.

For a long time, I was especially good at hiding my mental illness and it took a long time to get the help I needed.

A lot of the help I did get is practically inaccessible now.

In the UK alone, after years of flawed government decisions and neglect of the NHS, there is a backlog of 1.6 million people trying to access mental health services. And a further 8 million trying to get on the waiting list!

This neglect is a false economy. It has been estimated that the cost of mental ill-health to the economy is close to £120bn per year.

Mental health should be at the heart of policy and the political agenda, alongside significant investment in local mental health services.

But that is far from the case.

It takes a hell of a lot of strength to ask for help. When that help takes months even years to come, the impact can be devastating.

So, wherever you can, campaign for change, lobby your MP, fundraise or, simply share your experience of mental health and keep the conversation going.

A small moment during the speeches Cripps Barn] - a couple clearly in love and touched by what they were hearing.

I was drawn to their body language, to the connection and the warmth between them.

A simple image but for Sas and Rich it obviously holds a lot of meaning.

I am so pleased to say booked and I am going back to Cripps Barn] for their wedding in July!

This will be the third wedding in this group of friends too. I cannot wait to catch up with them all!

Of all the photos I take, the ones that usually do the best on Instagram are not the ones that people print from my galleries.

My couples print and hold dear pictures like this one.

And that's just fine because it's finding moments like this one that keeps me in the game!

So, a huge thanks to all those couples, from years gone by, in this instance .kerridge1 and , who feel the same way and to all those couples I'll get to meet in 2023 and beyond - THANK YOU!

I had two weekends off work for some family holidays!

Much needed R&R . I've had weddings every weekend since May and in the last week, before going away, I had two brand sessions, a family shoot in London and two weddings!

I'm back to work this week, editing hard today and tomorrow and catching up on enquiries, before a branding session on Wednesday and weddings Friday and Saturday. Phew...I need another holiday ;-)

We had a fab family hols and it was great to come back to find the news from This is Reportage that I had won an award for this, very recent, photo taken

I'm always looking for humour on your big day.

And I'm really pleased that this tickled the judges.

From over 11,300 images submitted this was one of just 81 Reportage Awards.

And the bride and groom love it just as much!

Vicky & Stu just took delivery of their gallery and after seeing their previews, made the outstanding decision to order a album!

It makes my heart sing when people make that choice. Knowing that they'll be able to pick that album up time and again to remember their day by.

Here's one I'm pretty sure will make a great opening or, even, closing image to their album

23/06/2022

I've done a lot of thinking surrounding my new venture over .co.uk and putting it out there.

I haven't always been sure what I want this to be. And for a while, this fear stopped me from doing anything at all.

The idea itself is the perfect thing. Putting it into practice though, it may never be quite right. What if I fall flat on my face?

Developing this idea, I thought a lot about why I enjoy photographing people.

This thinking led me to join for a photo walk around the Southbank. And something she said about making portraits really clicked for me.

In a world where we can feel increasingly disconnected, taking photos of people, of strangers, provides a human connection and grounds us in the moment.

And I love that feeling so much. I try hard to make that connection in all of my work.

The photo walk was a great tonic for pushing me out of my comfort zone and also, helping to remind me what I love about taking photos of people.

I don't know how often, in between work commitments, but I do know I need to keep making these pictures, to help ground me in the moment. I'll post some over .photos if you fancy coming along.

Thanks to all those people who stopped to talk to me on that walk, whether or not you said "yes" to me taking your portrait. In fact, perhaps those people who said, "no" did me the biggest favour. They showed me that my worst fears, about putting myself out there, were, in reality, not that scary at all.

Perhaps then, the most exciting thing about this new chapter is in the not knowing and in the failures, however hard. We only really learn when we fail. And then we fail better and keep going!

It's that hard and that simple.
