Wow - what an amazing concert at St Andrew’s Eaton yesterday. This was chamber music at its finest. It was good to see a full house but surely aren’t all our concerts worthy of such a turnout?
Here’s a clip of father and son duo Andrew and Scott Storey with pianist extraordinaire Viv McLean playing part of their closing piece - one of the 3 duets for 2 violins and piano by Shostakovich played here on violin and viola. Bravo chaps!
Back in November 2013, Eaton Concert Series hosted a masterclass with violinist Adrian Adlam coaching local young musicians. One of those young people was Dylan Latham. How lovely to see him emerge as a fully fledged concert violinist playing concerti some 11 years later! Maybe it's time to invite Dylan back to do a recital in his own right. (With apologies for the camera shake!)
What a fabulous concert yesterday afternoon with Matt, Kate and Nat. Here they are playing the final gigue from Bach’s Cello Suite in D minor arranged by Kate for the trio!
On Sunday 13th October, we look forward to welcoming theorbo player Matt Wadsworth and baroque cellist Kate Bennett Wadsworth at Eaton. The last time Matt and Kate played for us was in September 2022 and here's a short clip of them in action. This time they will be joined by harpsichordist, Nathaniel Mander, so another good reason for coming to support!
Nat has played at Eaton on several occasions, the last being a memorable performance of Bach's 'Goldberg Variations' at a socially-distanced concert during lockdown. Happily we can afford to be a bit more relaxed this time and this concert of baroque trios is a must for all lovers of baroque and early music.
David Parry & Stanley Butcher at Eaton
Thanks to everyone who supported our fabulous piano duo recital at St Andrew’s this afternoon. It was an absolute treat to hear young Stanley Butcher play alongside the eminent David Parry. Here’s a clip of them playing part of an encore by Schubert.
Adlamenson Duo - encore
Here's a very lively Irish number which the father and son duo played at the end of Sunday's wonderful concert.
Michael Haywood and Paul Chamberlain playing Brahms Hungarian ...
We had a brilliant afternoon with these guys from Edinburgh today. Totally fun and uplifting but what a shame we had such a disappointing turnout, especially after last year's record box office numbers. We have another 7 concerts to go, so come on Eaton (in the words of Delia) "let's be havin' you!"
