About time we introduced Sous Chef Cam 🫡

✨What got you into cooking, and what do you love most about it?
I’ve always worked in kitchens since I was around 13 years old. Pretty soon afterwards I knew I wanted to be a chef.
I love that there is always something to learn with cooking even if you’ve cooked all your life, there’s endless recipes, techniques to learn!

✨What’s your go-to dish to cook when you’re off the clock?
Phat kaphrao (pad krapow) with sticky rice and a crispy fried egg. 

✨What’s one kitchen hack or secret you swear by?
Secret to easy/stress-free cooking is all in the mis en place! Very boring but it’s always left the stress out of cooking when everything you need for cooking is ready and prepped in hands reach.

✨Funny kitchen story?
Funny kitchen story has to be when Michelle and I nearly drove a chef we worked with to insanity, by hiding timers around the kitchen to go off at different times. Before we left work that day I stuck one in his rucksack to go off a few hours later.

Introducing our Social Media Managar & Operations assistant, Emily ☺️

Favourite Restaurant experience?

Eating Germknödel for the first time on the slopes in Hinterthal, this is a fluffy dough dumpling filled with a spiced plum jam.

Favourite dish at Grace & Skye?

Obviously the chicken katsu curry, I had this on my first day so I knew this was the right place for me 😬 but also the pear cake I could eat every day!

Favourite thing about working at G&S?

Licking all the bowls of cake mixture when the chefs are done with them but obviously the people, it really feels like my second family.

What’s one thing most people don’t realise about the logistics side of the business?

A lot of time and effort goes into the logistics from the beginning stages via email of booking dates, menu options then to the chefs and finally onto delivery on the day ensuring everything goes smoothly with our couriers.

G&S Kitchen has been busy this week!🥹

Our Valentines doughnut sale was a huge success, we’re so thankful to everyone who stopped by. We’ve just wrapped up two incredible days of catering at Shepperton Studios and now on day two of four at London Films, all while sending out countless breakfast and lunch bowls! We’ve received some amazing feedback, “This is the best on set catering I’ve had, love the colours and the health, don’t usually get that!”

Introducing Head Chef Michelle! ✨

What got you into cooking, and what do you love most about it?

My mum. Cooking was always a fun activity in our house - making pancakes with disco music blaring or cutting our vegetables into fun shapes for our lunchboxes, food was always used to bring joy and show love. I’ve continued to bring that with me in my cooking and I love how food brings people together.

What’s your go-to dish to cook when you’re off the clock?

Spaghetti and a tomato sauce, tons of olive oil, parmesan, black pepper and chilli flakes

What’s one kitchen hack or secret you swear by?

I always microplane my garlic rather than mincing it - it’s so much quicker and I hate lumps of garlic

Fave restaurant experience?

Anything in the sun with a glass of something delicious and friends. I prefer a laidback meal to anything too fancy but the tasting menu at Social Eating House will always have my heart.

Funny kitchen story?

The power going down in a restaurant I worked in and having to do a full service on a tiny Konro grill with 4 chefs crowded around and the KP shining his phone torch over us for light. It didn’t feel that funny at the time but we were laughing by the end (ish).

Fave thing about working at G&S?

The variety of jobs we work on and mix of people you meet. And obviously the team!

What’s one thing most people don’t realize about the logistics side of the business?

Food actually takes time, people and money to make it. Catering can sometimes feel a bit faceless but there’s a hardworking team with a tight budget behind everything you eat.
