New Year, New Start 🎇

Introducing the lovely Sarah Murphy, who is our franchise owner for Pop Up Play Village in North of Bristol. Here’s Sarah’s franchise story!

What did you do before you had a career in play?

I have worked in the children’s entertainment industry since I was 15 years old starting with working in my local soft play centre! I have always loved having fun with children and it brings me so much joy to be part of their learning, playing and excitement. I have worked in 3 different soft play centres, created green screen animation films with children, ran hotel holiday clubs, hosted birthday parties and worked as a nanny.

Why did you join Pop Up Play Village?

I had to take several years out of the industry due to having a stroke in 2015. This wiped me out and I was absolutely gutted that I couldn’t keep up with the pace of children’s entertainment. Since having my daughter, my mind had been playing with the idea of setting up my own business, working with children again and specifically running children’s birthday parties. I was on furlough when the advert for Pop Up Play Village appeared in my news feed and I was instantly interested. I’d never even heard of franchising and this was the perfect solution for me. I knew I could create a successful children’s entertainment business but actually starting my own business was terrifying!! This was the perfect option for me, with the awesome support we receive from Becky and the rest of the franchise team I have seen my business grow and flourish – despite the naughty C word!

When you’re not playing, what do you enjoy?

I have a 4-year-old daughter so my free time is spent predominantly with her! We love family days out, walking and visiting family in Norfolk and the Forest of Dean.

What play plans do you have for the future?

I want to give up my day job (which I currently do 3 days a week alongside the Village) and make this my full-time job. My focus for the new year will be gaining regular contracts with schools and EYFS settings to make this dream a reality.

What’s your highlight so far …..

🥳PARTIES! Naturally I love birthday parties, it’s my thing! I have been part of so many “first” birthday parties, even if it’s a child’s 3rd, 4th or 5th birthday. Many children have not had a proper birthday party and finally they get to have their special day, all about them and it really is my privilege to be a part of that. I have developed my party offering to be a 100% stress free experience for the families using my services and the feedback I get from them is amazing.

And finally, what’s your favourite play area?

Oh tricky! I think it would have to be the Café! The children always flock to this area and they absolutely love the variety and toys and play opportunities here. They always choose the cakes and chips and find it so funny to serve mummy a cup of silly tea (ketchup and sausage tea anyone?!)

Absolutely love this, I loved running the business and having my two little helpers! Yet another positive of running Pop Up Play Village! ❤️

As the school holidays draw to a close, I'm so thankful for being a mummy boss!

Was fabulous to be able to use the role play areas yesterday for my daughter Carrie’s 5th birthday!

She invited all her new school friends and they all had a fabulous time! Carrie chose the role play areas herself:

🎨 Art Studio (making rainbows)

It was great to be able to put on a pop up play party for Carrie before a successor takes over!

Hi, I’m Katie and I live in the wonderful village of Stansted Mountfitchet with my husband Adam and my two children Alfie and Ella.

I have worked with children and young people for over 15 years and always dreamed of running my own child focused business. This is why I joined the Pop Up Play Village franchise team running weekly role play classes, parties and more in and around the local area.

Family is so important to me, so I wanted to run a business that would work around them, but also something they could grow alongside and be involved in. Alfie is definitely keen to be my right-hand man!

When I am with my friends and their children, I always take on the role of the children’s entertainer and love to get involved in whatever they are playing and be as silly as I can.

Role play is such an important part of a child’s development, often being their first experience of what mummy and daddy and everyone around them does.

Was it worth the risk? I say so from hearing her highlights so far.

My highlight so far is just generally the reception that I have received in my local area. Everyone has been so positive and excited that I have brought Pop Up Play Village to so many venues. I have met so many people and have built up a lovely following of loyal returning customers. I love hearing feedback from people who attend my classes, parties and events and it reconfirms that the risk I have taken to leave teaching is worth it.

Still looking for the next owner of Pop Up Play Village Nottingham, so if you fancy a new exciting opportunity then get in touch for more information!

It is an existing, successful mobile role play village that currently runs play sessions, birthday parties and more in and around Nottingham. Many of you would have attended a session or 2 since I started the business in January or have had us run a party for your little one. This is a now a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for children’s development to invest in an existing business and not only run it at their own pace but increase and build the business to its full potential. Pop Up Play Village works well as you can run the business in line with your other commitments weather that be a part time job or childcare commitments. You can even take your own children to play sessions as many of you have seen mine many times. It really is a wonderful business!

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would love to run their own role play business with support and guidance along the way. Full training will be given as well as myself helping support you for as long or as little as you need. There is also the option of funding the business fully using a supported government backed start up loan.

I have had to make the difficult decision to put Pop Up Play Village in Nottingham up for sale unfortunately due to health reasons. I really can’t express how much I love Pop Up Play Village and everything it stands for however right now it is the right decision for myself, the business and my family that I take this step.
