I don't know where this month has gone! I haven't posted much as I've been busy with home Ed for my eldest, starting a new part-time job to run alongside my wedding floristy and the whole house coming down with covid 🤦🏼‍♀️. One week of school left for the youngest and a couple of lovely weddings next weekend, and then a few (hopefully sunny) weeks of summer hol's fun with the kids.

Hello! I've had a few new followers recently, so I thought I would do a bit of an updated post about myself. 👋🏻

I'm Melissa of Melissa kay floral design (Kay is my middle name), and most people call me Mel. I live in Nottingham with my husband and 2 children (11 & 6) and our British shorthair cat, Buddy.

I love all things flowery, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I decided to train in floristry and have a career change from working in the NHS. Since launching my business, I have grown increasingly fond of wedding work, and this has now become my main focus. I'm also waiting on an allotment and hope to be able to grow some of my own flowers for weddings in the future.

When I'm not doing flowery things I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling when possible, crafting like a absolute grandma (my husband loves to make fun of me on this), reading (quite enjoying fantasy fiction atm 🤓), listening to a wide variety of music and collecting vinyl.

Bridgerton-inspired afternoon tea shoot at the stunning . Thrilled to have collaborated with so many talented suppliers!

For the bouquet, I chose a dreamy mix of pinks, peaches, whites, and a touch of Bridgerton blue, all tied together with soft trailing chiffon ribbons for that perfect romantic touch.

🌸ANNOUNCEMENT🌸

Since opening the cabin just over a year ago, my wedding workload has increased (thank you all!), and this has affected how often I can open the cabin.

I have made the decision to close the cabin at the end of the month as I simply cannot be in two places at once.

Wedding florals are my passion and priority. I am now in the process of having a larger home studio built to provide me with more space and to move my small business forward.

I have absolutely loved my time here and want to say thank you to all my customers and everyone who has supported me.

You will still find me at a market/pop here and there and hopefully running a few workshops in the future.
