The Promised Land, named after Joe Smooth’s dance music anthem, was established by DJ Mr Hickford in 2015 with a DemonFM radio show and grown into Leicester events and beyond including Nine Bar, The Cookie, Brick and Beam, The Shed and regular sets at The Tree, The Jam Garden (Loughborough), The Turkey Cafe, The Malt Cross (Nottingham) and Café Belgique (Amsterdam).

The Promised Land is now an six strong, DJ collective of Leicester’s finest record collectors, diggers and music enthusiast DJs.

The six DJ collective members include founder DJ Mr Hickford, with Craig Davids, NinjaBob (House of Verse/The Basement), Steve Beverley (The Jazz Shambles), Kev Mud and Phil Gaskell.

The collective promotes vinyl only nights in Leicester and beyond with open music policy spanning global sounds of soul, funk, jazz, latin, disco and deep house. Playing a range of classics through to unknown discoveries and hard to find records.
