This morning we visited Little Characters day nursery near Chesterfield. The children were curious and confident with the animals and enjoyed being a tree for Stickman the Stick Insect.

This morning we were back at Shanklin Day Nursery in Leicester. Red Foot Tortoise Rayo had the best time! She loves meeting people and she met all the children from babies up to preschool. 🐢😊

This evening we visited the Chilwell Beaver and Squirrel Scouts in Nottingham for some animal handling fun! Little Tenrec Mango had his second outing and he was a very good boy! 🦔🤩

This evening we visited the 5th Beeston Girl Guides in Nottingham. The animals and I had a lovely time. Leopard Gecko Cleo and her animal friends were proud to receive their very own Girl Guiding badge. 🦎☺️

Today we received some lovely feedback form our party yesterday. The birthday boy's mum said:
'I just wanted to say thank you so much for coming to my son's birthday party yesterday - he had such a fantastic time as did all of the children. He’s loving telling people that he held a real life spider! You and all of your animals were great - thank you again!'
Tia Tarantula is really pleased to be a favourite creature! 🕷😃

Today we went to an exciting party for a 5 year old boy. Corn Snake Autumn and some of her furry, scaly and creepy crawly creatures were there for everyone to hold or stroke. If you would like to invite a snake to your party contact us to find out more about our hands on animal experiences. 🐍🤩

We had a lovely morning today, as always, at Cedar House Residential Care Home in Rothley. Little Mango had his first outing and he was a very good baby Tenrec. 🦔🤩

Amazon delivery! I often say to children at school visits that Red Foot Tortoises Rayo & Rosie originate from parts South America, including the Amazon basin in Brazil. Not Amazon the shop! I came home today, though, to find Rosie sitting in an Amazon box like she had just been delivered! Lots of our creatures enjoyed a cardboard box to chew, hide in or play with. Often Rosie likes to sit in a box on its side. I have no idea how she got on inside it like this. Thug Rayo would have flattened it and walked out but Rosie seemed quite happy just sitting in there. 🐢😄

Meet Mango the new member of our animal team. Mango is a Lesser Hedgehog Tenrec just like the lovely Thistle. Once he (or maybe she) has settled in he will be out and about as part of our animal handling workshops. Even though Tenrecs are mammals they don't have external boy/girl parts. This means we have to wait for Mango to grow up a bit more before we know if his/her gender. Watch this space! Thank you Joyful Hedgehogs for letting us have Mango and giving him the best start in life. 🦔😍

This morning we helped an 8 year old animal lover celebrate her birthday. The birthday girl chose the animals she wanted to meet. Top of her list were snakes so Corn Snake Rio was there along with Kenyan Sand Boa Jupiter and African House Snake Henna. This afternoon we helped a 6 year old celebrate her birthday. The birthday girl chose the animals she wanted to meet including which included a spider. Gentle and laid back Chilean Rose Tarantula showed everyone how friendly a spider can be. This morning Bearded Dragon Summer had a lovely time at a McMillan coffee morning. We visited Holles Street Short Breaks in Worksop for some animal handling fun for their service users, families and staff.
