Today we helped a 5 year old reptile lover and his family celebrate his birthday. Little Chequered Garter Snake Star and some of his scaly and creepy crawly friends were there for everyone to handle and find out about. The children were very enthusiastic and confident with the animals.

We had a lovely time this morning as always at Cedar House Residential Care Home in Rothley, Leicestershire. The animals and I have been visiting for over 10 years and we are always made to feel very welcome. We look forward to going back in 2025. 🐢🐍🦔🦜🦎🐰🐹

Today we were back at .leics.inst Church Hill Junior School in Leicester to visit this year's year 6 children. In year 6 children learn about evolution and adaptation, so some of our animals from different habitats were there for the children to handle and learn about. They included Crested Gecko Gwen who is adapted to life in the trees and Leopard Gecko Cleo who is a desert lizard.

How cuddly are these two! Poppy & Misty cockatiel were both hand reared by and a lot of time was spent with them as babies. Both lovely a good head scritch from me and in Poppy's case, any other willing human she meets! Poppy is 17 months old as she has been part of our animal team for just over a year. Baby Misty is only 5 months old. When they put their heads down they are inviting another bird (or for these two, their human) to preen them.

Today Fancy Mouse sisters Speedwell and Cornflower visited the BTEC Animal Care students at De Lisle College, Loughborough. As part of an assignment they have to set up an enclosure for these lovely rodents.
