It is a little bit snowy here today in the East Midlands. Dolly bunny isn't at all bothered. She is a very hairy girl with fluffy feet and this is the weather she was made for. She was happy to go out and play in the snow. Oreo was less convinced about getting his paws snowy but eventually curiosity got the better of him! We have four rabbits as part of out animal team. They are always inside over night but they do need daily outdoor playtime, even in winter This time of year they go out in their pairs, with the other pair spending time in out indoor play area.

We had a lovely time this morning helping a 9 year old animal lover celebrate her birthday. The birthday girl chose the animals she wanted to meet including a bird. Cockatiel Rocky really enjoyed himself and he was a very good boy! He even showed off his whistling skills.
Our birds aren't best suited to busy parties with lots going on but they are happy to go to smaller, home parties with school aged children. If you would like to invite Rocky, Poppy or Mist to your party contact is to find out more. 🦜🤩

Summer is feeling a bit bored! Like a naughty toddler she didn't want to go to bed this evening! All our animals have really enjoyed a Christmas break and some time to relax. The are ready now to be back out and about, especially Bearded Dragon Summer, Red Foot Tortoise Rayo and Uromastyx lizard Orchid. Luckily for Summer & Rayo they are both going to a party tomorrow.

The youngest bunny member of our animal team Rusty was 2 yesterday. Here he is sharing (sort of) some fenugreek treats with best friend Cookie after a morning in the garden. Did you know all Lion Learners animals live at home with presenters Rachael, Michala Clare and myself?

We have now finished our workshops and events until after Christmas. It is still busy here at though. Today all our vertebrate creatures had their monthly weigh ins. Bearded Dragon Summer is thrilled to be under 500g for the first time since she joined us just over a year ago. She has been on a diet since we rehomed her and she is still a little bit round but is gradually becoming a more healthy weight.

Here is a bigger video of our baby mice meeting our grown ups for the first time today. Femake mice are really good at making new friends. They do best in a small space with no hides when they are first introduceed. They have now moved into our big mouse cage together.
