Sunday brought an early ray of sunshine (soon to be extinguished) and the KCBS rounds.
Our continuing good form in Ribs continues with a 2nd place but our other rounds languished in mid-table but did get us to 5th place overall.
Many thanks to Kevin Durrant-Jones and Claire Durrant-Jones for running such a fun competition through the many environmental challenges. Well done to White Squirrel for the GC and Bunch of Swines for the RGC.

With our last stocks of Oakridge BBQ Dominator rib rub now exhausted together with the wind damage to our old faithful 11 year old gazebo, we will not be replacing her, and thus this will have been our last competition of any kind and it was good going out on a high.
It has been 12 years of fun, sun, rum, and lots of middle class BBQ and we will miss all the teams and organisers that have made the comps fun.

A good first day at the inaugural Valleyfest competition. Yesterdays burst watermain and subsequent flooding of the competition area was followed up by Storm Anthony that turned our pitch into a swimming pool but still got ourselves 2nd place in the ‘Pimp my BBQ’ and third in the cheese round. KCBS tomorrow but apparently better weather.

At the end of a great weekend of competition BBQ at Smoke on the Waters - Pit Barbecue & Smokehouse double header and while our Saturday cook left a lot to be desired, we came back strongly on the Sunday with 5th places in pork and ribs and an overall 6th.
Congratulations to Five Q for the GC and White Squirrel for RGC
Once again thanks to John Gower for putting on a great event, Mark and Ange Fishlock for being great reps.

Unfortunately after 11 years of KCBS competitions, this will be our last. We will still be doing ‘freestyle’ competitions but the rising cost of meat and me ‘getting too old for this’ have lead us here.

Our first competition of the year and a chance to blow the cobwebs out at the The Lazy B$t&rds Cook Off 2022
Congratulations to Shaun & Jo Joker Smokers for the GC and Nick & Tracey from Wonky Donkeys for RGC.
As usual, due to post Friday night catching up, we had a slow start but picked up our game for day 2.
Good return with a 2nd place for our inspired rack of lamb
Tight competition in the pork and beef rounds meant we narrowly lost out on further silverware but really good judges feedback on these rounds softened the blow.
Once again big thanks to Oakridge BBQ for our rubs and Buff bbq for the support going forward.
(I was fortunate to ‘glamp’ instead of sleeping in the van and I cannot begin to explain how this is the future for us)

A very belated update from our only KCBS competition this year at Smoke on the Waters in Devon.
2 years of no competitions meant we were very rusty on the rounds but still managed to come away with 2nd place in ribs. Oakridge BBQDominator yet again doing the heavy lifting.

Many thanks to John Gower and Nic Townsend for hosting this event and feeding us so well.
A big shout out to the KCBS reps Mark Fishlock and Ange Fishlock for the smooth running of the comp and for constantly reminding us whose clock is king.
Now to start planning our 2022 season.

What a great weekend at Smoke and Fire festival and though our efforts on Saturday were muted, we put in a good recovery on Sunday with a 3rd in Beef and 6th in Chicken and Pork. Well done to the Wonkey Donkeys for the GC and to Kamado Bono for RGC.
It was great to be reunited with Michael Clark after an enforced 2 year hiatus and fingers crossed, we will be together again at Smoke on the Waters in 2 weeks time.

We were competing this weekend at the American Speedfest IBQN event and after a break of 22 months, apparently we still have it in us to bring home some silverware!
Though not a ‘traditional’ competition, Oakridge rubs still did the trick with a string showing for Dominator in our pork and American classic rounds. Oakridge BBQ

A 6 week break and then we are off to Colchester for the Smoke & Fire Festival.
