This months headline act James Scott-Howes is the reason we're even doing a December event! We couldn't miss out on being the last leg of James' tour with his newly published book "Unstable Boi", especially when his first ever headline gig as a spoken word artist was at Poetry Scum back in 2021. You may recognise James from performing this summer with his band & we guarantee he's just as enthusiastic, energetic & full of stage presence as a solo act. Truly one of the most genuine, beautiful human beings in the poetry community. Do not miss out on our final event of the year!!!

"James Scott-Howes is Leicester’s premier Screamo poetry dandy. On stage he is a maelstrom of energy. James’ tongue twisting odes to mental health struggles & triumphs, love, mortality, self-acceptance & the frothing rage incited by discarded trolleys, has earned him a reputation as a one-of-a-kind spoken word artist, performing feature sets up & down the country for the last five years. In July 2024 James published his debut collection ‘Unstable Boi; Poems of Love, Despair and Nu-Metal’ through Mini Poetry Press. A book that was described as ‘fiercely compassionate lyrical genius’ by poetry legend Jemima Hughes . Whether on stage or in print James Scott-Howes’ work is innocently whimsical, crushingly sad & laugh out loud funny, often at the same time. James is a completely unique force of aggressive positivity that has to be seen to be believed".

This months feature act Babita Mundra from wowed us on the open mic a few months ago & we just had to get her back on Scums stage. Born in Sherwood & still a local resident, Babita concentrates a lot of her work in the local community & the .sherwood is where her late father used to drink! We're in for a right musical treat!

"Local Sherwood resident, Babita Mundra, from Alchemy Tones, is a highly respected Accredited Sound Healing Practitioner, offering transformative monthly Sound Baths in Nottingham, UK. Babita combines her deep understanding of energy healing with her lifelong passion for music exploring sound & space. With over 20 years as a percussionist, producer & musician, she brings a unique perspective to sound vibrations. The celestial rhythmic melodies she plays on the Handpans will trip you out & take you to another planet!

You can find her on Instagram and can listen to her discography on Spotify".

Headline Poet:
"Who the F**k is Alice is a poet, performer & playwright from Derby who headlines at events nationwide. As a polyamorous, bisexual woman in her late 50s, her writing deals mainly with her many & varied interactions with men. She was an Associate Poet for the Derby Poetry Festival in 2023 & has just completed her MA in poetry at Manchester Met. Her work has been shortlisted for a range of prizes from Mslexia Flash Fiction Prize to the Creative Futures Award. The first prize she ever won as a poet, however, was for the best-dressed poet at an erotic poetry evening in London – a win of which she is rightly proud"!

Feature Poet:
"Zeena is an artist, psychic reader, poet & screenwriter from Lincoln who dabbles in all kinds of creativity & silliness. A great deal of her writings are centred about her introspections on love, how we relate with each other, reflections on cultural diversity especially with her experiences on having grown up as an Iraqi Muslim in the U.K., her moments of spiritual awakening & the complexities of friendships and relationships between individuals from minority backgrounds. She published the poem Pomegranate in the anthology The Colour of Madness, which was themed around loss of memories due to PTSD. She aims for her creative work to be healing, cathartic & make you feel seen & heard".
