Yesterday we hosted an Open Gardens at Coombe Trenchard to raise funds for the Sabine Baring-Gould Centenary Fund.

A beautiful day for visitors to enjoy homemade cakes, tea, coffee, wander the gardens and purchase some plants.

The day was made extra special by so many of our Coombe Trenchard couples who have been married here, or are due to get married here this year, joining us for the occasion. It truly felt like a wonderful reunion as we relived their wedding days and saw how their families have grown, meeting their children and furry friends, or shared exciting tales about the final stages of their planning.

Thank you all for taking the time to visit and catch up, it meant the world to us.

Over the course of the Winter and the early parts of Spring, The Coach House goes into hibernation to allow the cooler temperatures and wetter climate to pass and for the team to tend to our annual maintenance.

It’s about this time of year that we are getting excited to reopen its doors for the late Spring & Summer events and weddings and watch it transform into the special vinery it has become.

Added warmth is brought into the space with log burners, candlelight, personalised decor and infinite joy through cheers & laughter shared over scrumptious food and drink.

We are on countdown to the first wedding of the year, where we will enjoy scenes such as these at L&S’s wedding a couple of years ago.

Long before our wedding day, we met multiple times face to face and over the phone with Sarah taking us through everything. She helped us navigate the world of organising weddings and we are very grateful for her support.

From the family dinner the night before with wonderful hospitality and food, to the little touches, organisation and friendly help on the day to the day after, Sarah, her team, husband and the most gorgeous setting that is their home have created wonderful memories for us.

This beautiful autumnal sunshine we’re having just transports us back to Chris & Lewis’ Summer-in-October wedding last year.

The gardens put on a real show to harmonise with their seasonal styled decor which reinforced the time of year when the warm weather had us fooled! What a glorious day.

This wonderful couple would have recently celebrated their first anniversary and we wish them a lifetime of happiness 🍁

And just like that, we have celebrated our final wedding of 2023 at Coombe Trenchard.

It has been another beautiful year for the memory books, with weddings of all sizes - totally personal to each of the couples. We’ve seen hand-fasting & mead ceremonies, pirate storytellers, sparkle stations, coloured dresses, hand-painted dresses many an international guest, cakes made of cheese, mini wedding cakes; we have experienced classical music to trance music and seen florals of all colours & styles. It has been such a joy to open our home for these moments that are just the beginning of the story for our couples.

We are so looking forward to our beautiful 2024 weddings, focussed on intimate occasions with unmatched elegance. On this day 40years ago Philip & I were married. Weddings were very different then to how they are now. Most of ‘our’ guests were my parents friends, my mother made all the decisions, including colours, dressed, flowers etc and there was very definitely no evening party. We were so young…..
Ten years ago we got a wedding license as George our eldest son wanted to be married at Coombe Trenchard. That wonderful day got me hooked, and since then we have celebrated with so many wonderful couples. We now share this anniversary weekend with many couples, including & Bob in 2016, & Dale in 2017, & Stephen in 2022 and only yesterday & Alex. Happy Anniversary to you all xx

The elegantly draped South facing window provides a pastel framed backdrop to your ceremony, or a romantic spot to share your handwritten vows with views out into the garden for you or your guests.

The Arts & Crafts era of the house is proudly displayed in this space with the original sculpted ceiling and intricately carved entrance door setting the tone for a truly special location to share your commitment to one another.

I n d o o r C e r e m o n i e s ✨

We have had some stunning outdoor ceremonies lately; under The Clock Tower or on the Croquet Lawn being favoured options by our lovely couples.

However, we often explain how the indoor ceremonies in The Main Hall with the striking Minstrels Gallery or in the bright and beautiful Morning Room are much more than a Plan B if things like weather impact decisions.

Today, we wish to spotlight The Main Hall, which as you can see in these stunning pictures of B & E’s special day last April, with its vaulted ceilings and Raised Dias, offers you a spectacular backdrop for your ceremony.

Standing on the platform of the Dias, allows all guests to have an unobstructed view of you both and members of the wedding party can station themselves on the gallery to provide a friendly face as you look up. Equally, this is a perfect standpoint for your photographer or videographer to capture you both as well as the Arts & Crafts features of the house.
