A free weekend for me this week, but look out for a cracking video from Sara and Mitch’s day at tomorrow! This one had so much happening and although I was just on video here, since I was staying a bit later to cover a wonderful sax performance from .than.sax, Sara had asked if I could cover a couple of photo opportunities with this champagne pop being my favourite! I usually don’t like direct flash but it was/is a bit in fashion and the more I saw it the more it grew on me a little bit - a sprinkling shall we say!! Super excited to share this couple’s wonderful story with you all tomorrow!

Another fantastic visit to Maryculter House on Saturday for the wedding of Melissa and Greg! Before this year I hadn’t been to Maryculter for a few years and I think this was my 4th wedding there this year with one more to go! Funny how things like that happen. What a day it was! I’d not met Melissa or Greg beforehand, but knew they were from Portlethen so thought there’d be some familiarity there and we began the day discussing some common links etc! A busy morning running around before a lovely indoor ceremony - where we had a beautiful first for me - as both Melissa’s father Jim and step-father Brian walked Melissa proudly down the aisle as her beaming smile filled the room! What a moment! Into the afternoon and the sun kept up its appearance, before going back in for five wonderful speeches. A very low key cake cut (👀) was just about captured before heading into a lovely first dance to Kodaline’s “the one” performed brilliantly by Diamond Skies who carried on the celebrations long into the night! A genuinely lovely couple, and so many lovely family and friends who were all so welcoming to me on the day, it was a genuine pleasure to be involved in your day. A huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Smart! Thank you both so much for asking me to be your videographer! Excited to see how this one comes together! Also great to see Christie and Clarke again who were on the photos for, a fair while since I last saw each of them so great to get a good catch up with those two legends too! This was also my first video wedding where I got the chance to try out my wee pocket dispo lens for that unique vintage/nostalgic look so keep your eyes peeled on my story as I’ll pop up a wee vintage teaser later in the week!

Chloe and Scott ❤️
A special wedding for me on Sunday as I had my first former pupil wedding from my current school! I taught Chloe and most of her bridal squad back in my early years at Portlethen and it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces all grown up and catching up with what they’ve been getting up to! Although funnily enough, it was actually groom Scott who first got in touch and booked after Chloe gave the nod of approval! Chloe came up with the idea of having a first look with Scott and his daughters, and that kicked off a day full of emotions (although bridesmaid Jemma had been crying all morning!!). We then had a first look with Chloe and their son Louis, followed by Dad Drew. Some lovely speeches in the evening was followed by a first for me at a wedding - a stand up comedy gig from Wray! A fantastic entrance for the cake cut was followed by a packed dance floor as dress number two went on and the crowd partied into the night! It’s always an absolute honour to be asked to any wedding, but there really is something special about a former pupil asking - so thank you both from the bottom of my heart for choosing to have me as your photographer! A huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Hosie!

Some ceremony moments from Shannon and Kieran’s lovely marriage on the beautiful lawn at Banchory Lodge Hotel. I love the backdrop here, and how you can hear the subtle sounds of the river Dee trickling by in the background! Such a lovely spot for a wedding. I’m actually working on this edit today and ironically I’m actually up to the rest of the ceremony photos, gallery is looking superb so far!

A few favourites from Rhianna and Scott’s pre-wed shoot on Tuesday! A fairly nostalgic/worlds colliding one for me here as Rhianna is a former pupil of mine from my days at Aboyne Academy maybe 12 years ago, but I also know Scott a little bit as he played football with my younger brother when they were at school - so I was intrigued as to how they met and whether there would have been an interesting story there, there wasn’t!! Ha! But does show what a small world we live in! Rhianna had suggested Maryculter woods as it was quite a quiet spot and some nice scenery. I’d never heard of it before so went along for a look and it’s a great spot for a photoshoot! It was great to see both again after so many years, let the countdown begin ahead of the wedding next year!

Shannon and Kieran ❤️
A huge congratulations to Shannon and Kieran who got married at the lovely Banchory Lodge Hotel on Saturday! Another special wedding for me, as I’d previously taught Shannon’s siblings Caitlin and Angus, and had met Shannon and her parents previously so it’s always lovely to see some familiar faces! I met Kieran back at our pre-wedding shoot and was excited to see what the Geordie’s would bring to the dance floor and I’m delighted to say I was not disappointed!!
Another hybrid one for me covering both photo and video so it was an early start, and a fairly calm morning, albeit a bit touch and go on whether the ceremony would be indoor or outdoor. Thankfully the rain stayed off for the majority of the day and after a couple of emotional first looks, it was out to the beautiful lawn for the lovely ceremony. The afternoon flew by and we then headed in for 5 wonderful speeches! Into the evening saw a fantastic rehearsed first dance routine to a classic You Me At Six song (big fan myself so refreshing to hear one of their songs for a first dance!). I believe Kieran proposed shortly before they went to see the band perform so a nice wee touch to include it on the day! A packed dance floor followed and there was also a surprise karaoke performance from Shannon’s Mum Anna to finish off my night! A cracking day all round for a genuinely lovely couple! Thank you both so much for choosing me as your photographer and videographer! A big shout out as well to Josh Moverley my second pair of hands once again for all your help on the day!

Another fantastic wedding on Saturday saw me back at Raemoir House for Joanne and Ryan’s day! I’d not been to Raemoir for a couple of years and this was my first of what’ll be three visits this year! Great memories though from this lovely venue! For Joanne and Ryan’s day, we started with quite a chilled morning with a little bit of nerves ahead of the ceremony. This was my first time seeing a ceremony inside the lovely oval room, with celebrant Doug carrying out a wonderful ceremony! A fairly warm day meant everyone was happy to get outside in the afternoon! Into the evening saw one lovely speech from Ryan, and into the evening where everyone danced the night away! Just a lovely wedding thank you both so much for asking me to be a part of your day!

Another visit to the lovely .house on Saturday for Kirsty and Andrew’s fantastic wedding! A bit of a 50/50 decision on whether to have the ceremony indoor or outdoor, and with some hazy light speckles of rain mid-morning, the sensible call was made to have the ceremony indoors. So a lovely warm ceremony was followed by some lovely afternoon shots as the rain stayed off for us! Into the evening saw some great speeches and some wonderful dancing to finish to finish the night off! I’ve been filming weddings for over 6 years now but this was the first wedding where we had the classic Bryan Adams Everything I Do as the first dance song - absolute classic that has had its place in Simon’s ballads playlist for many years!! A huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Bruce, thank you both so much for asking me to be a part of your day!

Adrienne and Joe ❤️
My first of quite a few visits this year to the beautiful Logie Country House saw a fantastic day for Adrienne and Joe’s wedding! Having not met either Adrienne or Joe before the day, I was as always a little anxious going in as you never know what the couple are going to be like, but as soon as I met Joe and his groomsmen as I arrived, I knew we were in for a fantastic day! This was just enhanced when I met Adrienne and the bridal squad as well as all the family and friends I spoke to - what a genuinely lovely group of people. A beautiful and emotional ceremony was followed by some absolutely fantastic speeches - and i hear the party carried on brilliantly into the night! What I really love about this job is when I’m able to put together a unique story for each couple, and I believe this one is a cracker filled with emotion and laughter! To the new Mr and Mrs Brodie, thank you both so much for putting your faith in me to film your day, it was a genuine pleasure to be involved! What a beautiful family - I wish you all the very best for what I’m sure will be a wonderful future together!

My final June wedding saw me back at the beautiful for the third time this year as Sara and Mitchel tied the knot! After a busy May and June, what a way to finish with a bit of a mammoth day for me, starting at 9am and leaving at 11:45pm! We had the drone out, bride prep, groom prep, a lovely ceremony, plenty of afternoon shots, a champagne tower, fantastic speeches, more evening shots, a cake cut, a first dance, a father daughter dance, guests dancing, a sparkler shot, a saxophone set, some night shots at the bridge and a champagne pop shot to finish the day! A lot to work with so plenty of options for the edit! Excited to see how this one comes together! A huge congrats the new Mr and Mrs Megginson! Thank you both so much for asking me to film your day!

The day has come for Caitlin and Ian’s beautiful and emotional highlights video from back in April at the lovely Kinkell Byre! On reflection, I feel this is quite a special one for me, and Caitlin and Ian booked me after seeing a previous video I’d filmed at Kinkell Byre, but not only did they book me for video, they also asked me to do their photos, all without having met me! So a huge honour and great deal of faith was placed in me for this, and I couldn’t have done it without some fantastic help from my second shooter Josh, so a big shoutout to him! A huge congratulations again to the new Mr and Mrs Annand! Thank you both so much for asking me to be your media provider for your day!

Some family formals post ceremony with Katie and Ryan! This is often a stressful time for photographers as there’s so much to do in a limited time frame, but I think these photos are so important - it’s very rare these days that the entire family is together so to get a nice photo or two of all can be quite a rare thing - I can’t remember the last time my family had a whole family photo and there’s only 5 of us in our immediate family!! A big shoutout to Katie’s auntie who was a massive help at this one rounding up all who were requested for a photo, it really helped me get them all done in good time and onto all the other things I needed to capture!
Tip for couples: if possible, try to allow at least 2 hours between the end of your ceremony and call for dinner if you’d like a good few family photos and still have time to chat to your guests!

Another superb day at the beautiful on Saturday for Rebecca and Cameron’s wedding! A lovely morning looked set for an outdoor ceremony until the met office threatened a 60% chance of rain around ceremony time! The decision was made to go for an outdoor ceremony and thankfully the rain stayed away! A lovely afternoon with the guests went into three emotional speeches. Into the evening saw a surprise for the couple as their daughters had snuck a few vocals into their first dance song - Ed Sheeran has some competition!! A huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Martin! Thank you both so much for asking me to be a part of your day!

Saturday saw my second visit to this year for a fantastic wedding between Charlotte and Ellis! A day that started with a 50/50 chance of rain ended up blessing us as the rain only spat lightly for a bit in the afternoon before several downpours at night! A fun lively morning with Charlotte and her girls in the morning was followed by a beautiful ceremony inside the ballroom. Four wonderful speeches, a champagne tower, the dance floor being filled before the new Mr and Mrs Elrick had even been announced in!! There was so much going on at this one with some lovely details on display - we finished the day off with my first Guest Video Diary of the year where we had some entertaining entries to say the least!! A mammoth day for me from 9:30am-11pm but a fantastic one to be a part of! Thank you so much for asking me to be your videographer! Excited to see how this one turns out!

A huge congratulations to Kerry and Lyle who got married at the lovely Maryculter House back in April! Kerry and Lyle were both pupils at Mackie Academy back in 2011 when I completed my probationary year, with Kerry being in one of my S4 classes! So this was a special day for me too - it must have been about 10 years since I last saw Kerry when we bumped into each other at bridesmaid and best man Lauren and Mikey’s wedding a couple of years ago. Here I properly met Lyle and once they were engaged, it was a complete honour to be asked to film their wedding. The day itself was full of emotion, tears and beautiful words throughout, followed by some epic dance moves being thrown once the party started! A fantastic day to be a part of, thank you both so much for putting your faith in me!

Katie and Ryan ❤️
A huge congratulations to Katie and Ryan who got married at the stunning Glen Tanar Ballroom on Saturday! This was a really special wedding for me too, as Katie and Ryan are both former Aboyne Academy pupils from my wonderful time out in deeside! So plenty of familiar faces for me on the day too! I was absolutely honoured when Katie asked me to provide both photo and video for their day and with fantastic help from and .co - the day went really well from the media team’s perspective! A new record for me though, with 715GB of data from this fantastic wedding!!
An early start got me out to the ballroom to set up my kit, before heading to Finzean for bride prep. There were laughs and tears, beautiful baby daughter Maya was fast asleep when I arrived but once away was loving life and the camera!! A beautiful ceremony inside the ballroom was followed by lots of great afternoon pictures before some fantastic speeches. As we went into the night I was - as always - impressed by deeside’s ability to keep the dance floor filled as the celebrations went on long into the night! A huge thank you and congratulations once again Katie and Ryan, can’t wait to get working properly on all of this for you both, it’s going to be a wonderful collection of memories for you both!

Part 1 of a very nostalgic week for me saw me photographing our very own Portlethen Academy leavers ball! Having taught many of this fantastic group all the way back when they were in first year, it was a mixture of emotions seeing them off for the final time as they go on to what I’m sure will be wonderful futures. The dance-floor was filled all night so there’ll be plenty more shots to come over at . Congratulations to the class of 2024! Thank you for asking me to be your photographer!

Friday saw me back at the Marcliffe for a superb day celebrating Natasha and Neil’s wedding! A brilliant day that got off to a disastrous start when my car battery was dead as I tried to leave the house!! Fortunately, younger brother Jamie came to the rescue with his car and set me on my way! Jamie is my hero of this wedding!! After a chill time with Neil and the boys playing chess in Banchory, I headed to see Natasha and her girls at the Marcliffe. Fun vibes in a fast paced day after my morning hiccup, Natasha was looking absolutely incredible as she made her way into a large ceremony of guests. An entertaining and emotional ceremony followed, then into some wonderful speeches in the evening. The dance floor was filled and before I knew it things for me were wrapped up! A really awesome day spent with some wonderful people, that absolutely flew by! Thank you both so much for asking me to be your videographer! Excited to get to work on this one!

One of my favourite’s from Rachel and Forbes’ day at the Chester Hotel! Love the colours and the framing here, and I’ve always loved shots where there’s an element of anonymity to them, where anyone could look at the shot and think “that could be me!”
Today would have been my first Saturday off for a while and the end of my “mental May” but me being me, I have ended up taking on some second shooting today for a half day, up at the lovely Aswanley with the lovely Donna Murray! A little morning reflection on what a busy month I’ve had with so many special moments for some fantastic couples! Lots on the editing pile but I’m keeping up quite well!

Another fantastic weekend of weddings! On Friday I was up at Meldrum helping out Rhea with some photos, and then on Saturday I was back at the lovely for Amy and Matt’s day! A brilliant day that actually started off with a lot of cloud and some fog (pic 1!) by then the sun came out so out came the drone again to re-do my drone shots (pic 2!). I wonder if I try and creatively use both in the highlights video?! We’ll see! A huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Foster! Thank you both so much for asking me to be a part of your day! 😊

Tracy and Stephen ❤️
A huge congratulations to Tracy and Stephen who got married on Saturday at the beautiful Thainstone House! This was my first time at Thainstone and what a lovely, beautiful venue it is! A fantastic ceremony room with lovely natural light flooding in, beautiful grounds for our couple shoot and guests to enjoy the sun. Then for the evening opening up the bar side to create a stunning and spacious ballroom for speeches before finishing the night with the evening dancing! Tracy got in touch last year and decided to go with me for their photography, and I couldn’t have been happier with how the day went! Plenty of tears in an emotional morning for Tracy as the emotion of the day was building! A fantastic ceremony followed, which began with daughter Evie being pulled down the aisle by big brother Finlay! What a sight and reaction!! A roasting hot day where the sun was shining all through the afternoon into some lovely speeches. The evening saw a lovely family first dance into some fantastic dancing from both the adults and all the kids/babies!! Just a really happy family vibe for the day which was a complete honour to be a part of! Thank you both so much Tracy and Stephen, I can’t wait to see how this gallery comes together!

A busy May continued with a cheeky midweek wedding and my first of a few visits this year to the beautiful Logie Country House for Adrienne and Joe’s fantastic day! Adrienne and Joe are both based down in London, and all their family and friends had made the journey up north for the day! Having not properly met either before the day, it’s always a little nervous going in and not knowing what type of crowd you’re going to meet, but what a genuinely lovely couple, a beautiful family and a big thank you to everyone I met who were so friendly and welcoming to me! It really does make my job much easier once that ice has been broken! Special shout out to Joe’s Grandad Sandy who kept me company all day with some great stories!! Ha! What a great guy! A day full of love, laughter and some tears, a great ceremony followed by some fantastic speeches, and last but not least, Adrienne’s awesome “wifey” socks!! Ha! Loved them! A huge congratulations to Adrienne and Joe! Thank you both so much for asking me to be a part of your day! Can’t wait to start working on everything for you!

A huge congratulations to Caitlin and Ian who got married on Saturday at the beautiful Kinkell Byre! My second visit to this stunning venue and it’s just as beautiful as all those years ago! Great to see Steve again after believing he was retiring since my last visit! I was absolutely thrilled when Caitlin and Ian had asked me to be both their photographer and videographer. A genuinely lovely couple whose love for each other was evident all throughout the day, it was an honour to have been a part of your day! A beautiful ceremony, some lovely speeches and then some really emotional dances (and then some entertaining moves after that!! Ha!) - just a fantastic day from start to finish! SFA Legacy Award: Westdyke Community Club
Video 5 of 6: Next up we have Westdyke. After a storm delayed my initial planned visit to the club, we managed to get all the filming done over a couple of different sessions. Again, some excellent facilities at the club and the success they have build has resulted in waiting lists to join teams. The world was made to feel a small place as I actually know Brian's son from University! Again, some incredible work being done from the people at Westdyke - fantastic effort from all!
