Hello there my lovelies, summer is about come and hang out with us! Good luck to my June couples, it’s your month my lovelies! A lot of this month will be focused on finalising my July weddings and making sure that my Wedding Planning Emergency Kit is fully stocked! Last month, at a wedding in the outskirts of Skipton, one of the caterers asking if I happen to have a spare extension lead (🙀) but of course, I have a spare one in my bag! I even have an emergency cake knife in my kit bag, just in case no one brought one. A lot of my weddings are Glasto-style, outdoorsy festival weddings and these small details can get overlooked, but look no further I do have my trusty emergency bag full of goodies! 🥁⚡Drum Roll Please! 🥁 ⚡ I am so so excited to share the amazing video of a styled shoot I planned and organised over the summer... right in the middle of wedding season, how crazy was I to do it? Right? Well, it turns out it was the most brilliant ideas, I've ever had because this shoot was bonkers (cue Dizzie Rascal! 🤓) and just everything came together so well! I want to deeply thank the team behind this shoot because they are amazing and I feel that I've found new like-minded friends and colleagues that I know I can bounce off ideas with. Our WhatsApp group was and can still get hoppin' 😁 Everyone did so well and I am truly truly proud of this shoot and what we have accomplished! Can you believe it's June already? Time has certainly flown by, but that means it's Pride month and in the next few weeks I will be talking more about the importance of inclusivity and tolerance as well as representation! I previously mentioned that I started Grace In Spring Weddings because of my own experience of not "being seen" and represented enough as a woman of colour, I also feel this is true with LGTBQ+ community, even though there is a rapidly growing LGBTQ+/friendly wedding community, there is still a long way to go in terms of being equal and of representation. I am certainly not an expert in LGBTQ+ issues as it is not part of my lived experience but I can be an ally and a vocal one at that. I am also striving to be more inclusive in the use of my language, mindful that not all couples want to have a "bride" and "groom" or a "Mr and Mrs" label. One thing I have learned over the years, is that most of us would like to experience important milestones like everyone else, including getting married to your soul mate. A few years ago, I got to meet an absolutely inspirational young gay man, who was saddened that he was unable to attend his high school prom due to unfortunate circumstances. We then joked about going to Pride celebrations in his supposed-Prom outfit and go-all out as if he was going to his own school prom but a million times better and with the most amazing people! I still remember that conversation, the joy and hope it brought the both of us and hoped that he did have his Pride Prom, and what an amazing experience that would be!
