Orange Juice!

It's not my favourite when I'm out socially, but needs must when you're driving!

I was surrounded by others ordering a bottle of wine in this lovely little restaurant in Salford Quays last week. 🙈🥂🤣.

And don't get me started on the drive there.

It was going dark.
Traffic was at a standstill.
Bumper to bumper.
Lane Closures
Road Works
No street lighting
Black Ice
Queues a mile long to get out of the car park

These things were the only down side to going to see a fantastic Theatre Performance at The Lowry ... Just look at that face 🤣😆😂

Best to leave the driving to a coach/driver. What do you think?

A big shout out to The Lowry Theatre for kindly inviting us to The Press Night of Edward Scissorhands last week.

We loved this Matthew Bourne Production.

Not what we were expecting, and "A New Adventure" in every sense!

Fabulous stage sets. Brightly coloured costumes. Special Effects. Full of character and characters!

The cast worked brilliantly together, and Edward might as well have been Johnny Depp himself (from the movie). Fantastic!

This production and cast fully deserved the standing ovation that they received.

We enjoyed our excellent stalls seats too!

Have you ever tried to make your own Mulled Wine?

Me neither. I would rather just drink it instead 🤣🤷, but I remember some years ago, I had gone to Warwick Castle at Christmas Time, and they had a very festive Christmas market in the grounds....

"Your Family Crest", or your Family Tartan"
Savouries and pastries galore..
A wee dram, or cup of coco, and a big queue at the Mulled Wine Counter!

"Well, it must be good I thought", so I waited for my turn at the Mulled Wine Counter!

It came in a paper cup with a lid on it. My hands were grasped tightly around the rim, as I perched myself on the end of a bench to drink it!

It was such a bitterly cold day. Freezing! I could barely feel my fingers, and all I can say is that that Mulled Wine certainly did defrost my cockles, muscles, and I felt so alive alive o - I went back and got in the queue for another🤣

Last week took me to The Liverpool Empire Theatre, to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 😃.

I wasn't long seated, when a very frail elderly couple came and sat beside me. "We have travelled by train from Chester to see this. I'm really looking forward to it", she said, smiling.

This mid week matinee performance was packed out, and full of school children who were incredibly well behaved, except for one brief moment when two young boys got vocal about who was sitting where.

Little did they know ... Secret Agent (School Teacher) "Miss", was on it like a hot potato as she whipped across the aisle to sort things out, and then whipped back again before you could say "Gin & Tonic" (which I had in my hand) 🤣🥂🤷.

The lights went down. The stage was set, and the story of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory began, much to the delight of the audience.

The lovely lady sat to my side was quick to nod off. You know when you're just so tired, and your head starts to drop!. Hubby was obviously related to "Miss" as he shot off - likely to a bar somewhere, and she didn't even miss him! 🤣

When the lights came up, and everyone was taking a bow, this lady looked at me and said "isnt it noisy"?🤣.

It was one of those "Isn't it windy" - "No its Thursday" type conversations 🤣. She was just gorgeous!

What's the point? Theatre is for everyone. From young children to those who are less able who made the journey from Chester to see this performance (only to miss it 🤣),

On the downside ...I didn't win the golden ticket ... but on the plus side ... Charlie did, and that's all that matters!

I had a great time. Met some lovely people. Great performance. If you get the chance ... take the kids. I'm sure they will love it!

Not before time, Culture Calendar Ladies Social Group are making a full day and night of things once again!

Return Coach, a wine & dine (more wine than dine), heading to see the much loved, real life husband and wife comedy duo Michael Starke, and Lynn Francis in Haunted Scouse.

Why bother with a coach?

Well ... You know all of those fabulous restaurants on the south side of the city that you never get to explore because you always have to drive? Ta Dah! 🥂🍾🍴. Problem solved!

Our group were quick to snap this up, but just a few spaces left if we can tempt you to leave your car on the drive, let your hair down, and leave someone else to take the wheel for a change.
