From the start of our planning together, the little details are something that our bride Liv knew were important to take time & consideration on. Before we even had our venue, Liv had her suitcase open & had started to collect treasures that would build up to be thoughtful details that celebrated those supporting them on their special weekend. And for her very own treat, the ‘something blue’ Monolo’s - they were on our design board from the get go!

Staring at the blank page before you…*✨

I, very ambitiously, at 4am this morning got out my fresh 2022 diary to be promptly told to ‘turn the chuffing** light out’ by my husband. No no, I’m not on a new crazy morning routine, I just hadn’t gone to sleep yet after a gorgeous evening with games, food & bubbles🥂
And perhaps a little keen to start a new page.

Like many this past year, there’s been real tough moments. So I will be taking all the light & the lessons learned, and let that other stuff go.

I have a lot to be thankful for & that’s where I’m choosing to put my focus.

Pots✨

Here are 4 simple ways to split your budget into manageable pots when planning your destination wedding!

1. Pre wedding day costs
All the elements you can pay for well in advance of the day & help you get prepared.
For example, rings, wedding planning & insurance. Some couples include their wedding attire in this pot too.

2. On the day wedding costs
This is the big one, all the elements you can imagine on the ground for your wedding day. From the venue, catering, photographer & the whole team of suppliers. And any gratuity in there too!

3. Surrounding Events
Making the most of your guests company is always a big priority for my couples & the secret to creating a relaxed wedding day. Plan surrounding events such as welcome drinks, a post wedding brunch & farewell pool party. Adding an activity like a wine tasting or boat party can be a really lovely touch to encourage natural interaction.

4. Travel, accommodation & honeymoon
Think of this like your holiday fund!

The temptation is to feel paralysis while we’re in an unsettled time, but now is the time to look forward & be dreaming & scheming✨

… might actually have to for our first wedding on Saturday! A micro wedding in London town. Not quite the Provençal dream that was once in the works. But we move & ultimately there will be two married souls at the end of the day surrounded by their intimate circle, ready to start their next chapter.

I try not to take everything - or myself - too seriously.
I yearn for a lightness in my step & a bright outlook. This comes through in my relationships with my clients & over the course of 18-12 months working together we’ll have laughs, smiles & happy tears too (though they’ll tell you, the tears mainly come from me).

From the cutting room floor...✨

And there completes another venue search as one of our clients has chosen their dream spot to say ‘I do’. With each search, I notice a little pattern of clients minds returning to a destination that has captured their eye & their heart, often from the onset. The venue search is continually one of my favourite parts of wedding planning. I’m on a constant scouting mission to unearth hidden gems that align perfectly with my clients (get me back on the road to explore in person!). Often going through a vetting of alternative & sometimes wild card options can be a risk with time. Though if it means untangling thoughts & what’s truly important to their priorities, I’m all for it. It’s all part of the planning tapestry.

In this search, Greece was certainly the focus & we narrowed it to 4 venues across the islands of Rhodes & Crete.

Here are 3 that didn’t quite make the cut this time, which I know will suit some more of you out there!

Wales✨

This is likely the longest I’ve been away from my original home & like many of us, desperately wanting a cuddle with my Momma.

For me, the strongest links to a place are the typical dishes. My ideal menu from the little countryside park Caffi down the hill from my house were...
Leek & potatoe soup, Welsh Lamb & minted pea sandwich. Buttery slices of Bara Brith with tea in the afternoons.

I may have swapped the Welsh hills for the Yorkshire dales, but I’ll be dreaming of that creamy backdrop surrounding the Giraffe Shed in Tregynon today.

Where do you turn?✨

When your wedding planning feels a little - okay, maybe a lot right now - misty, foggy & unclear, who do you talk to? Where do you go to find clarity & peace of mind?

A funny little thing happened to me when speaking to a couple with a new enquiry for a beautiful Greek Island this week. The lovely bride quoted back to me a piece of advice I’d written on my journal! Quite honestly, my cheeks were hurting for the rest of the evening as I was beaming from ear to ear. To know I can offer value & be of use to super special couples taking that leap of faith for a wedding away from home.
