The first Big Bash was held in 1998, a year after the untimely passing of Adrian Phipps. It was a party, organised as a celebration of his life, with the aim of raising funds for two local charities who had been involved in his care and in supporting his young children following his death. It was a roaring success and a fitting tribute to a man who had loved to dance, to laugh and to share fun wit
h friends and family. Two years later, the second Big Bash was held in the same venue and with many of the same guests. Money was again raised for a local charity, this time an animal rescue for which Adrian's widow and children were volunteering their time and efforts in fostering and rehoming small animals. In 2006, following the death of a long-time friend from cancer, a third Big Bash was held, this time with funds being donated to cancer charities. The night was a fantastic tribute to a vibrant and much-missed lady and friends and family gathered to remember her in the best way possible - dancing, drinking and generally celebrating all the best times! The stage was set some 25 years ago and the Big Bash continues to be a vehicle for raising monies for charitable causes. The same organisers are at the core of the activities and each time an event is held they work closely to support and mentor other people who have been affected by loss or illness or struggle, creating and managing events that breathe life into difficult situations and generate a positive outcome for everyone involved. Big Bash Events are always a giggle and magical memories are made. We love a challenge and we enjoy the planning, despite the stress and the pressure! We put the FUN into FUNdraising and we love that in giving people an opportunity to attend a fantastic event, and paying tribute to some very special people we have lost, we generate much-needed funds for worthy causes and charitable organisations which have true meaning to those involved.
