📢Until now, it has been widely believed that lower levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or ‘good’ is associated with an increased risk of heart attacks.

A new study analysing the cholesterol levels of black adults now challenges traditional perceptions of its role in predicting risk.

Supported by National Institutes of Health (NIH), the research shows that ‘good’ cholesterol levels are not an effective biomarker for cardiovascular disease among adult populations of different racial and ethnic groups.

The conclusions drawn indicate that common perceptions on the matter are derived from outdated data sets that lack .
