I am thrilled to announce that I have completed my 100K challenge, supporting the Silver Star Unit at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This journey was incredibly tough, taking me 17 hours and 48 minutes, well into the early hours of the morning. I faced significant challenges and issues with pain from my stress fracture, plus my head torch running out of battery on the last leg, which was a problematic downhill section, and I had to dig deep to find the mental and physical strength to continue.

The Silver Star Unit is crucial for pregnant mothers and birthing people facing serious complications, offering comprehensive care with a dedicated team of midwives and nurses.

Your support means the world to me and those benefiting from the Silver Star Unit. Let's ensure every mother and baby receive the specialised care they deserve. I would really appreciate it if you could help me reach my target. Thank you for your incredible support!

In just four days, I will be taking on the 100K Race to the Stones Ultra on Saturday. Training for this event has been incredibly challenging. I faced a suspected stress fracture that forced me to significantly reduce my training for two to three months, impacting my preparation. However, I'm now back to running three to four times a week.

I am dedicated to completing this race for personal achievement and supporting a cause close to my heart. I am fundraising for the Oxford Hospitals Charity, specifically for the Silver Star Maternity Fund. Your support would mean the world to me and help me make a significant impact.

Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal.

Thank you for your generosity and encouragement.

Just three weeks to go until I'm running 100K for charity. The Silver Star Maternity fund helps support all the maternity services for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust.

It has been a challenge due to a possible stress fracture, but back to training now. If you can spare a few quid, please consider sponsoring me please. £1 an hour it takes me...go on!

As you know, I've entered my first 100K ultra-marathon for charity. Training was going well for the first four months, but recently I've been struggling, possibly dealing with a stress fracture. It's incredibly tough trying to train when you're in pain and facing each day with a sense of dread.

Getting an email about a donation really boosts my morale and encourages me to keep pushing forward, day by day, step by step.

This past weekend, I went to the New Forest with my son Josh to try and regain my motivation. We ran 12 miles and walked many more, totaling 40,000 steps on Saturday alone.

I am determined to complete this event, even if it takes me 24 hours to finish the 100K. Your support would mean the world to me and keep me going through this challenging journey.

Thank you for your encouragement and generosity!

Latest Update: 100K Ultra marathon Training Journey

Firstly thank you to the five who have sponsored me I've raised £192 so far that's 19% of my goal. :-)

Last Week's Training. Every fourth week I reduce my training a little to give my body time to recover before I increase the mileage again. My long run last week was a disaster, with all the rain and saturated ground I thought I would run over Wytham Woods but when I got to the gate it was closed for deer culling, so I ended up running the A40 to Oxford, then I thought I would join the oxford canal, then the Thames path, but Thames path was flooded so had to detour again, ended up running along the A45... :-( managed a half-marathon distance, but not ideal running on the road in trail shoes!

Last Week:
28 Miles last week
February total miles = 113 mi
Time on feet = 22h 43m
Climbing = 4,446 ft

The plan for the coming week is 45 miles
Please follow my progress and help me reach my goal.

Latest Update: on my training ready for my 100K Ultra marathon.

Last Week's Training and Rehab, I've been nursing a sore hamstring on the back of last week's speed session. I went for a deep sports massage plus cupping to help with the Myofascial Release as my muscles are very tight. Having a tight upper and lower back can affect your legs when running.
30 Miles last week

February total miles = 74.4 mi
Time on feet = 15h 20m
Climbing = 3,629 ft

I had some challenging conditions to run in too, check out the link for the imagery and bruises!!!

Please follow my progress and help me reach my goal.

I am currently undergoing training for The Race to the Stones 100K Ultra, to raise funds for the Silver Star charity. Here's a breakdown of my recent training regimen:

Over the past 7 days, I've completed 5 runs, covering a total distance of 32.6 miles. On average, I've taken 13,670 steps per day.

Training sessions in the last week include:

Monday: A 4.2-mile easy run, maintaining a pace of under 10 minutes per mile.
Tuesday: A 4-mile session at an easy pace, focusing on Zone 2 training, with a pace of approximately 12 minutes per mile.
Wednesday: Engaged in a speed session involving 4 sets of 1-mile repetitions, each completed at an 8-minute per mile pace.
Saturday: Covered a distance of 14 miles, incorporating a climb of 1,224 feet, up and down the Ridgeway.

If you're interested in following my journey and would like to support my cause, please consider donating to my Just Giving page. Your contribution serves as a motivating factor, encouraging me to push myself further in my training endeavours, thus amplifying the impact of your generosity.

Thank you for your support.

Today was my long run in this weeks training plan in preparation for my 100k Race to the Stones race in July. I’m following at training plan which means I run 5 times a week. My plan is a 80/20% training plan which means 80% of my training is in a low heart rate zone easy pace and the 20% is at a high intensity so hill reps or a speed session.

Todays route was following the Greenbelt way from Eynsham up to Cumnor, climbing to Boars Hill, then drop down to Sunningwell, then cutting across to Radley to pick up the River Thames and track back to Sandford on Thames.

If you would like to follow my journey please do follow the link if you would like to help me raise funds for the Silver Star Charity.
